Topic: Stinging sex, sorry TMI! Posted: 29 June 2007 at 11:47am |
OK this is kind of embarrassing, but ever since I got pregnant when we have sex and DH well you know does his thing at the end I get stinging about 5 mins later. We've tried everything like getting it out straight away (hehe ew), leaving it there for a while, but I end up having to have a shower and cleaning myself out fully to stop the stinging then keep a cool flannel on there for the rest of the night.
It's really affected my sex drive and the only way I'll let DH near me is if he promises to pull out lol
Anyone had similar experiences or know what it could be? This is so embarrassing but I'm hoping someone can help! TIA!
Oh, and this never happened before I got pregnant so it's very strange that it would be a pregnancy symptom.

I don't get stinging, but I have to admit sex is ALOT different to before I was pregnant. Its not better or worse, I can just feel it in my tummy more and yeah basically its just a really really different feeling for me!!
Maybe your getting like a friction burn inside you and then his eerrmm "stuff" is reacting to it, just a thought.......you know when water is put on a grazed knee it kinda stings??? I guess everything down there is alot more tender and sensitive during pregnancy aswell!
Not much help am I

I had the same as you Deb, thrush that wasn't particularly itchy or smelly. Sometimes thrush can be just on the inside rather than all over. It's a common occurence during pregnancy, I know I had it about three times and it really sucked. If it turns out to be thrush, there is a six day canestan pack at the pharmacy that is low dosage and safe for pregnancy.
Hopefully it's not thrush though cause it's not nice! It could be what Peachy has said and just be your body being 'different' and more sensitive during pregnancy.

Sounds like thrush to me. I had something similar when we first started trying for a baby. I had no other symptoms and was convinced that I was alergic to partners sperm (coincided with the stopping protection). It turned out to be thrush and was treated easily. So, in other words go to the docs and dont try and self diagnose using the internet like I did and cause yourself unecessary stress thinking it is something more serious! Good luck

perhaps you are getting too dry down there during sex. Have you tried KY? Like peachy said the sperm maybe irritating it after it starts coming out again (erwee the things we talk about on here LOL )

I get that all the time now too emz!! i would NOT recommend play lube! we tried it and it just burned even more! too much info, but when it first started hurting, it was deffinately not friction burn or being too dry (sorry if TMI!!) i have no other symptoms of thrush, but will be getting some cream for it, just incase it is, and hopefully that can clear it up, but yea, i would not reccomend the lube, that honestly had me in the shower so fast and i couldnt get a goodnights sleep because of the burning!
good luck and lol, please let me know if u find a way to stop it!

I have the same problem. Dont know for sure(should of asked my doctor ages ago) but I think its something to do with thrush & increased fanny sensitivity. I have tried condoms which dont really work(but not as painful as no condom) so i dont think its not the sperm itself. Its within a few minutes after sex i have this stinging sensation just within my vulva- like friction burn(& i use jelly) So its kinda off putting to for me & i try to avoid intercourse as such. I find the flannel good & also squatting in the bath & giving myself a little bi-det works wonders
I havent got long now & hopefully it will go away- otherwise i'll be off to the doctor to get answers.
Hope you sort yourself out soon to emz COz its not nice at all

Will have to wait for a couple of weeks to go to the doctors - have no money (as in I have about $5 for the next two weeks ) so will just wait it out for a while.
I can understand how it could be thrush, but surely I'd get it whenever we have sex, not just when DH does his thing?
Deb - my DH thinks he's hard done by because he's only getting it 2 times a week now! 'Poor' man - not!

Emz ask your mw about it. If it's thrush she might be able to refer you in the right direction?

Yes your midwife can sort it out for u and it should be free. Best to get onto it sooner rather than later. She can test for a uti as well (although I don't think its that)

Got an appt with the m/w in a week so I'll talk to her about it then. No biggie though, just wondering if it was 'normal'!

I am starting to realise that anything that seems really weird is "normal" in pregnancy. Any symptom you could imagine seems to be "normal"

Emz it sounds like thrush to me, that happened to me when DF would "do his thing" in me aswell, a real uncomfortable sting, you might have internal thrush if you havent got any itching externally. I got the external itch not long after the stingy sex.
If it is thrush be careful with sex cos I passed it onto my DF and it wanst pretty! lol he wasnt happy at all...

Emz smack your man - 2x a week he should feel lucky - DH and I have tried to stay away from "special Cuddles" as I get very bad bladder infections - it is good as he is very supportive and would hate anything happening to his lil girl
Mind you I have a low sex drive (thanks to Antidepressants) so he never got it much before except when we were tryinga and he thought all his xmas's had come at once
