Topic: What are the chances? Posted: 26 June 2007 at 11:36am |
Ok, I am definitely not TTC as Sam is only five weeks old, but my midwife had her final visit with us today and asked about contraception and said that there is every possibility that I could get pregnant right now!
I mean, of course I kinda knew this but forgot in the heat of the moment and well I've had unprotected sex twice now!
Has anyone else done this? I really really don't want to get pregnant at the moment, so I won't be having anymore unprotected sex..
I have a script for the pill, so I will be getting that ASAP!
I also had a dream early this morning that I was pregnant and DP said 'OH f**k!'

well they do say on of the most fertile times is just after you have had a baby...im not sure how you would tell though given your period probably hasnt come back yet...
and i have to say...wow sex before baby was 5wks old...man kent had to wait almost 2.5mths before i was ready again....lucky guy you have there.
i think the only way to tell will be to take a test

Whoops, it was more like 3 weeks. I dunno why, I just really really wanted to. I didn't want to at all while pregnant so maybe I was making up for it.
Yeah, no period yet so will just have to wait and see.
I had a c-section too so I want my body to heal properly before TTC #2!

Crazy. I'd take a test in a couple of weeks or so to be sure.

If you are using Lactational Amenorrhea Method then the chances of falling pregnant are around 2% BUT that is exclusively breastfeeding, period hasn't returned, and baby is under 6 months old.
If you aren't fitting those criteria then you can very well get pregnant.

Your chances are pretty slim but not unheard of. I wouldn't worry about it. Did you get morning sickness with Sam? If so, that returning would probably be your biggest clue - I know one woman (yes, only one ) who got pg again almost straight away and she knew b/c of morning sickness.

I was just reading about this online and I fit two out of three of those! The only thing is that I'm not exclusively breastfeeding. I was up until three weeks ago, so I'm hoping that two outta three will cut it!

I can't believe it myself! TMI but I wanted to do him on the hospital bed after my surgery but that would have been so wrong and well.. physically impossible as I couldn't hardly move.
What's wrong with me?!?!

Oh my goodness! Congratulations, Deb!
Renee, there's nothing wrong with you for wanting your partner... I jumped Nat when Josiah was 10 days old, and when Xavier was 7 days old.

I think you'll be fine at the moment but I would definitely not rely on 2/3 for any more time that you already have! (The 'lactational' part of 'lactational amenorrhea' is pretty important I think! hehe)
So get your butt to a chemist and fill that script!

One of the ladies from my antenatal group got pregnant when she was exclusively Bfing, no period AND... wait for it.... bubs was less than 1 month old!
Imagine having two under 1yrs! eeek!
(Twins don't count for this comment Emma before you get on you soap box LOL )

she's looking on the bright side and reckons that at least dealing with a newborn is still fresh in her memory and that bubs #2 will be all the better for her recent experience
But yes, it was a shock! (and not just to her & her DH! LOL)
