Wasn't quite sure where to put this but figured this thread might get some responses.
So just how long can the little buggers survive after sex? So many conflicting things on the internet - some say 3-4 days max, elsewhere says up to 7 days!
What I want to know is if there are any ladies out there that fell pregnant after they last BD'd up to 7 days before they OV'd? I pretty much always know the exact moment I OV so know it was definitely almost a week after we last had unprotected sex. If we did it the Sunday morning (no fertile CM at all, in fact still spotting a bit after AF), and I didn't OV until the following Saturday evening, could it be possible? Felt some familiar pains on Thursday just like implantation pains I had with previous pregnancies, and now achey boobs, tingly nipples and heavy feeling down below like I had with my first. Could be nothing and all in my head. Freaking out a bit because after our last surprise pregnancy which ended in a MC recently we've decided to put the idea of a 3rd on the backburner for a while. Too early to test yet but probably won't unless AF is a no show in a week's time. Just looking for input in the meantime. Thanks.
I think the general idea is- if it's fertile (wet or EWCM) cervical mucus when you do BD then then 3-7 days (probably 3-5 is more average), otherwise, with non fertile mucus, the sperm are not likely to survive even 1 day.
I was told that male sperm last only a few days but female sperm (slower swimmers) last up to 7 days. For me, it was 4 days from BD to OV and we are definitely having a little girl. I was charting so know when I OV'd but the whole EWCM was several days after sex. It also was only there about 24 hours. Maybe because the sperm were waiting to fertilise the egg the instant the egg was released which causes an instant chemical change.
I do know I was surprised to find i OV on day 11 and not day 14 like alot of women.
