Topic: breakfast Posted: 08 November 2011 at 8:40pm |
Hey,
DD is currently 13.5months old and we are feeding her watties baby muesli (the green box) for breakfast, as we have since she was about 8 months old. She loves it, we are happy to keep feeding it to her (or letting her feed it to herself), but we were wondering what others were feeding their similarly aged babies for breakfast. At some point we'll have to move on, but for now we are open to ideas!
Thanks.

Dh does the green box muesli (says making up weetbix is too hard???) and I tend to do weetbix mixed with fruit and milk. Ds is happy with both. He also feed himself toast after it.

Thanks fairy1. We also add fruit and offer yoghurt, or she helps herself to DHs toast! Or if she's in one of her hungry moods, all of the above

Yip, we feed one weetbix with milk warmed up. Easy peasy, no measuring, just one biscuit.
And strawberry season, yum yum, we both have weetbix and strawberries for breakfast.

half a banana, 1 1/2 weetbix and formula (diary intolerant) all mashed up together is what my little guy has, followed by pureed or chopped fruit amd sometimes some toast - a big breakkie for a 13 month old!

We generally do fruit and toast, or muesli and yoghurt, fruit salad and yoghurt, occasionally pancakes, porridge with dried fruit. He loves all those options

I used to just give him 2 weetbix in milk, but found he was getting a bit of a runny tummy, I think all the fibre in the weetbix was a bit much. So I switched to 1 weetbix and some of the green box muesli and it goes down a treat. I'm a bit lazy, and that's so easy and it's the one meal he eats without fail (I sometimes give it to him for tea if we've had a really bad day!), that that's pretty much all we do.

Marmite toast, then porridge made with toddler milk and some fruit here.
Occasionally they have fruit toast or an english muffin with honey.
MamaT - what muesli do you use? I'm always worried about the size of the pieces but I'm sure my girls would love muesli.

Just whatever I have in the pantry. I think at the moment it is something from Hubbards, but im thinking of looking into making my own actually. We did BLW right from the get go, so he's had a problem with big chunks or anything.

Usually some toast first (she loves fruit bread or normal toast with jam or marmite) and then either some weetbix or muesli and sometimes some of the only organics/watties cereal in a jar.
Not sure why your DH thinks weetbix are hard to make up, just crumble one up and put milk on it. Blokes.

We usually have porridge and fruit or cornflakes and toast or weetbix with warm water (to make it softer) and milk...sometimes we have a cooked breakfast; eggs, hash browns, spaghetti or baked beans and smoked salmon. We did BLW so DS just eats whatever I'm having and it's usually porridge but I do like to mix it up a bit and make it interesting...but I know he'll always eat all his porridge.

weetbix, cheerios, corn flakes...with warmed formula. Sometimes I add raisins or a couple of cocoa pops to the weetbix to keep in interesting.
