Hi all,
I'm currently studying a Diploma of Childbirth Education through Aoraki Polytechnic, which will enable me to become an ante-natal teacher. As part of my study I need to be a birth support person at 2 births before mid-November this year, one of which needs to be a home-birth. I'm looking for families who might be interested in having me be at their upcoming birth.
A little about myself - I'm an Auckland-based 29 year old mum to a gorgeous nearly 3 year old and an 8 month old, currently staying at home with them and juggling part-time study. I've always been passionate about babies and the birth process, but it wasn't until I had my own bubba's that the seed was sown to change careers and help other pregnant families get informed about what they were about to experience!
There are lots of benefits in having an additional support person at the birth, as well as having someone to be a sounding board afterwards. It's also worth noting that I'd only get as involved as your family felt comfortable with, so it doesn't necessarily need to be a 'hands on' type situation!!!
Please let me know if you are interested in helping me complete my study, or ask if you have any further questions! Thanks in advance!!!
