    Posted: 08 October 2011 at 10:57am
Pretty disappointed with the attitude of the owner of Mt Roskill's Kiwi Baby. I ordered a change table from them last week and phoned today to enquire if it had arrived. The owner, Dean was pretty useless and tried to convince me I hadn't even ordered and said, 'I don't need your business' when I queried whether he could help me sort out the issue. I guess he thinks business will always be good and he doesn't need to provide good customer care. I guess I'll take my business elsewhere. A real shame Dean as the ladies working for you are awesome and very helpful when we've been in store before. Yes, we used to shop there, not any more!

Thats terrible!! There is no excuse for that behaviour! I hate businesses that don't understand that customers come first and are always right!

Definitely don't go back!!!! I stay loyal to the great customer service places, especially for baby products. Sleep store, Nappies Direct and we have a great shop in Hamilton, Nurtured. Love all of them.

I can't believe it, you would think a baby shop would often be dealing with Mothers and pregnant women so would go out of their way more so!!!

wow that's not on. I have only had really good service from them & have bought heaps & big items like my P&T & spent over $900 on that & got fantastic service but then I had been going there for yrs.

I think I would ask for my money back & shop elsewhere as there are so many baby shops they are a dime a dozen.

I now don't shop anywhere where they don't appreciate my business after all we work hard for our money.

Thanks for your comments and support! Was gutted this morning as I was looking forward to adding it to our nursery ready for baby's arrival. Have since come up with a plan B and don't intend to go back there again!

I know, I love the sleepstore but hadn't heard of nappies direct. Thanks for the tip Sarah, I'll check it out! I'm new at all this!

Yup I second the Nurtured store - Its worth the trip from Rotorua!

I brought the sun cover for my P&T Sport at the P&C show last weekend, but didn't even think to say it was for the V2 model, so the back panel wont attach at all ....

I emailed and never got a response from them, so rang and got told they'd have to order a new cover which would take a couple of weeks

Ummmm I ordered some stuff from P&T and it arrived the next day. Kiwi Baby were certainly less than helpful I'm seriously considering selling the cover I've got and buying the right one direct from P&T.

No experience with Kiwi Baby, but absolutely recommend the Nurtured store One of their staff advised me that I needed to install a tether thing in the wrong place for the carseat I bought (it tethers under the seat, not at the back) and when I found out I'd installed one unecessarily and explained to them they took the price of the install off the price of the carseat, and were lovely about it Now that's service

Aw, so sorry to hear about this! One of my favourite stores has been Mocka.co.nz - we ordered our cot + mattress from here, and I have been so pleased with their customer service (plus free delivery anywhere in NZ!). They do have change tables, so it might be worth checking them out :-)

There's also a Kiwibaby in Glenfield, owned by a different couple I think. I got all my big items from there for DD1. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Here's their link: Kiwibaby

Thats not great. We have been to Kiwi baby numerous times and have always had wonderful service from the ladies.
Dean hasn't been there when I've shopped there so can't comment on if its his 'normal' attitude or not

I've been to the howick one a couple of times and the woman there is always lovely... She just laughs when kids play with things and climb in things, she knows its part of the job and what kids do... I love that about the store

I have been in a couple of times - as its pretty close to us, but I have always been a bit unimpressed with the attitude of the staff. They have always seemed a bit stand-offish, and like the others have said if I am going to spend that much money on baby stuff, then I expect good service.

Thanks for all your comments! I'm off today to the Glenfield Kiwi Baby, thanks for the suggestion Kabe! I phoned yesterday and the woman there seemed really helpful.

We also got our changetable for a great deal in the end from somewhere else.

I felt really crappy about it on the weekend but am now focussed on my baby, due next week!

Very exciting!

Oh my gosh, my experiences of Dean and roskill kiwi baby are totally opposite. We have been shopping there since I was pregnant with Beth so around 3 yrs and have had the best customer service out of any baby shop I ve been too. They order anything you need in, give big discounts, are polite and friendly and most importantly, know their products well! We have even taken our mountain buggy back there and they organised repair etc even though we got it from baby factory. I recently brought to booster seats from them and they gave me. Massive discount and helped me install them. Can't recommend them enough!

Went to Kiwi Bay Glenfield yesterday and the woman there was awesome! I can highly recommend them!

Thanks for your post richtea, maybe Dean was just having a bad day but he really upset me, there's just no excuse for speaking to a customer like that! But of course we all have different experiences. Mine just means that I will never go back!
