this would likely be a csection?...especially if the mother had pre-eclampsia?

not necessarily a csection, depends entirely on the situation.

From what I've read you can delivery vaginally - provided it won't put extra stress on your or bubs. If Baby is head-down, bum-up and the cervix is favourable.

Different situation but I delivered Jared at 22w vaginally. My body wasnt ready and its way more painful than a full term delivery but beats having a c/s

Your sister will be on the NICU rollercoaster now, is this her first baby?

I wish her all the best, NICU is hard hard work, it tests every part of you.

yes is her first baby, will be a shock for her. she only had her routine MW check and have to have urgent blood tests then the same night be told she has to go to the hospital then 2 or so hours later her baby is born.

going to try and arrange to go and see her in the next month or so if I can.

My mum had my brother at 27 weeks and 740gm. That was 11 years ago, he is now a healthy tall boy who is at or above the levels in school.

It is a real rollercoaster but there is hope and they are really so good in there!!
4 boys!! 7 years, 5 years, 2 years and 8 weeks...

Often the doctors opinion is that it's better to have a prem baby to be born safely by c-sect, than to chance labour when there's no previous birthing experience.

This was the case for us when my twins were born at 35 weeks. (twin 2 was high risk so would have had to endure 2 labours).

Hugs to your sister, NICU is a daunting experience for parents. Bubs is in the best care possible though.
