This has probably been asked before. How do cats and the like cope with baby gates.

When we've used them to keep pups in the Laundry, the cats just jump over them - I have heard on here of peoples cat's treating them like a door.

Dogs & baby gates work really well together. I use baby gates to keep my dogs out side when the back door is open.

Can your cats jump on your bench? If so they'll jump over the baby gate.

Our cat jumps over the gate. Unless she sees us coming then she'll just sit and wait for us to open it for her

We had a gate in the doorway from the lounge to the hallway in our old place, our cat would stand and meow for aaaaaaaaaages until we opened it for him. At night it was open so it was fine, but during the day he would just sit and wait, even when DS would chase him (he wasn't child friendly and hated being touched/chased) and even being chased he wouldn't jump it, he would run around and around the lounge until I could catch him and lift him over!!

I have one of those wooden door barrier things and my cat goes through the bars lol she's small-ish but depending on the size of your cat they might be able to fit through

My cat just stood and looked at it until DS was big enough to chase him. He quickly figured out how to jump it then!
