Topic: Unique Wedding Ideas Posted: 26 September 2011 at 9:50am |
....thought I'd ask "just in case". We were set to run off to the mountain for an intimate ceremony earlier this month (just the two of us and our little one) however my heart op was scheduled for the next day so we put it off. Now I'm in a bit of a dilemma, we still want to do it "just the three of us" but this time in Auckland (yes still elope so to speak! lol), we want to do something completely different and unique
so....any ideas on what we could possibly do?
would be much appreciated :-)

How about Butterfly creek? They might be able to set aside somewhere for you? (never been there so dont know what its lik)
Or the Zoo, or Motat?
Or how about on top of One Tree Hill (or any other mountain) overlooking the city?
I'm no longer based in Auckland so am a lil out of touch - good luck for your surgery and what ever you decide to do for your special day

oh I think its a lovely idea. Not sure how you do it tho...don't you need witnesses? which might be hard to get if having in a park or some places.
The only thing I can think of is a harbour cruise & the captain can marry you
I am sure anything you come up will be wonderful

I thought of the zoo, it's one of the top ideas atm. Not quite sure what to do about witnesses, will prob ask the photographer for one of them or is that too cheeky?

The photographer would be fine as a witness, but the celebrant is not cos they have to sign it officially anyway, I'm pretty sure. So you'd still need another person. Could you take one of your besties or someone like that to help supervise your little one so you and your man can focus on each other totally at the relevant moments?
I'd just go to a nice secluded spot on a beach somewhere myself (is there such a beach in Auckland?).
It sounds like a lovely way to get married - congratulations!

I was going to get married at Murvale Reserve,in East Auckland, its one I grew up going to,it has two fields and one is very secluded...its beautiful, with a big open sky above and trees lining the sides, you can reach it from the road, not sure if you wanted to venture too far out of the city though

since you have a littlie then I think the zoo is a great place to do it & you can always ring up & get someone at the zoo to be a whiteness..why not

How about Snowplanet?? That would be fun!
Or.....howick historical village, or Waiheke Island? There are some lovely spots on Waiheke, especially on the beaches.

snowplanet is an awesome idea!!!! Considering we were heading to the mountain initially! Cool thanks so much for that idea!!!!
I know murvale reserve well thekelly, I also grew up out east auckland!
Not so keen on the beach idea as we live right across the road from one and we're heading over to gold coast and cruising the pacific islands for our honeymoon (with the little one too)

Do a Harbour Bridge walk and do it at the top!!! Get the other tourists to be witnesses!! may be an issue with your littlie though.....
GL for your surgery, and congrats on getting married

there are lots of beautiful waterfalls in the waitakeres,(Huia etc) and not all huge walks away but definitely off the beaten track, beautiful and secluded but you can get a littlie there easy peasy.. absolutely stunning too! that would be different, yet still romantic and beautiful for photos if you want to get some taken :)
good luck for your op, and let us know where you end up getting married!

or zoo could be cool- you could go on one of those "animal encounters" where you get to go behind the scenes and see some cool animals up close!! and your wee one will love it too! :D

Theres a few east auckland girls on here haha... The zoo may be expensive? but maybe not since you aren't hiring it out iygwim.
I like the bridge climb or up the sky tower on the viewing platform.

I got hold of the zoo, and they've offered me a discount on hiring bits of it out for it...but now I'm not sure! We'll have to see
Kind of got a plan now, but it's all hush hush hehe so will let you all know when we've done it and what we did
I went to Pak! I've noticed there are a lot of East Aucklanders on here!
