Hi

My boy is 7 months old and not drinking as much milk as he was Plunket have advised me to try to slot in another solids which i am already giving him 3 a day. So thinking of trying some snacks for mid morning/afternoon if he isnt wanting much milk at those times.

Any suggestions on what snacks i can start giving him?

Banana, avocado, milk biscuits or water crackers (depending on if you think they would be safe with those).
You could also use one of those little baggy things that you can put pieces of apple or orange etc in - my daughter loved that when she was 7 months old.
Have you got the sheet from Plunket with the snack foods on? I know it starts at 9 months, but you could have a look and see if you think any of those might be suitable or could be adapted.

Thanks for the ideas, he hasnt got any teeth but is happy to suck on things. Might try the water cracker thing. i think it would be safe he will just suck it.

I do have one of those bag things so will pull it out & try him on that

Baby mum mum rice rusks are great, they say on the pack 12 months plus but I was giving them from 6 months as a lot of people I know did too. They dissolve in the mouth so the choking risk is low. Also cruskits work well for sucking on and nice and big to hold. You can put fruit into a mesh feeder as well.

What about cooked carrot sticks / grated cheese / rice crackers / toast fingers / milk arrowroot biscuits?
