Topic: Book depository and amazon? Posted: 22 December 2010 at 9:09am |
Is anybody else waiting on deliveries from either of these two for Christmas? Ordered at the beginning of Dec and both are about a week overdue. Can't track any of them, everyone says itsomeone else is delivering it! Just wondering if anybody is getting anything through or if they are all snowed up somewhere and I am going to be very light on Christmas presents this year

I ordered from Book depository around the end of Nov. They were dispatched on Dec 2nd Dec 10th respectively.
Both arrived safely and took about 7 days to arrive.
You can check on bookdepository when they were dispatched if you have your order number.

i've had a couple of bits through from the BD that were ordered a couple of weeks ago, but everything from UK is further delayed cos of snow at the moment - fingers crossed it gets to you in next couple of days
Usually the BD only takes about 4-5 days to come which is awesome

This is my first experience of the book depository and not really a good one, though not their fault. I did wonder if because it was free delivery, it would take ages to arrive but from what you guys say that isn't the case.
MuppetsMama - sometimes I think it will still work out cheaper to pay the shipping at Amazon because sometimes their books are so so cheap it is madness.

I had a book dispatched from amazon US on 30/11 with estimated delivery date of 16/ 12 but it hasnt arrived. I have emailed them about it but its difficult to chase since its an international delivery so if it hasnt arrived by the 11th Jan then then they'll send me a replacement or refund.
I guess its the christmas postage that is delaying them and the weather if its coming from UK.

Heathrow being closed wouldn't have anything to do with it, would it?

I would think deliveries from UK would be held up - if the news is anything to go by.
Book depository are usually fast and very good, way better than amazon, is it worth finding a tel no you could try and call see whats happened

Book depositories books arrived today yay!! At least DH will be getting one Christmas present. I would have thought that it would have made it onto a plane well before Heathrow closed, sometime between the 2 big dumps of snow.
Melissa - I wasted about 1/2hr on the phone this morning trying to trace it. Basically nobody could help. Oh well, wait and see I guess. Blasted snow!!

And the amazon order has arrived! Very battered but fortunately not too much damage to the books themselves. Have to say, I think the Book Depository packaging was superior, surprising seeing as that is the free delivery one!!
Hope yours arrives soon Melissa Thanks everyone!

Jazzy if you sign up for the BD emails, they send them to you whenever they are doing a promotion - usually once every month or two :) I've never seen more than 10% off.
