I have really bad mastitis on one side, have seen midwife and have been on antibiotics for it since friday, it started to feel a bit better on sunday, but is back to being worse than before.
I have a massive hard lump where the duct is obviously blocked, it comes around the side of my boob and kind of into my armpit,
It is pure agony, and i can hardly move my arm on that side.
I have been massaging the lump when i feed on that side, as i have heard that sometimes you can unblock it that way, but its not working...
Anyone got any tips to resolve this, don't really want to go on stronger antibiotics as these ones have already given Milla a really upset tummy,
I will seriously try anything, even old wives tales if anyone has any...

Massage
Express in the shower
Feed feed feed. Point baby's nose toward the site of the blockage - may mean feeding in some weird and wonderful positions!
Vitamin C
There is one other supplement/vitamin that was recommended but I can't remember what! Starts with s. Helpful, huh?!

TBH, mastitis is not something I muck around with. If massage and lots of expressing aren't working, then I hit the drugs. It may be that you're not on the right AB, or it may be that an dose of IV ABs (often only need one dose) may be what's needed to knock it on the head. You really really don't want it turning into an abcess.

I agree with fire engine. I have had this twice and ended up on antibitotics both times unfortunately. However I did a lot of massaging in the shower, lots of feeding and LOTS of vitamin C (not in juice, but straight supplements up to 3000mg) and it definitely helped. Good luck!

Thunderwolves. I had much the same thing. Mine turned out not to be mastitis but a breast abscess. Go back to your doctor asap. It's probably not going to be a fun few days, as you may end up on IV antibiotics since the oral ABs aren't working.

Fire Engine has it right!
I dont think you'd get enought vit c through orange juice though. Kellymom recommends "3000-5000 mg/day megadose" amoung other things. HERE is the link to that article.
I hope you can get it sorted asap. I remember getting mastitis twice and it was not pleasant.
