Hi everyone,
Just had a couple of quick questions regarding baby signing classes.
Would like to know how many of you have been to them and what you paid per term (and how many sessions you got for this) or per session and how long the sessions were?
Or if you would be interested in attending a class and how much you would expect to pay for an hour session with tea/coffee break in the middle?
I think I paid something like $30 for a one session class. It was about 2 hours long and included a helpful handout. The class itself wasn't amazing but it did inspire me to get signing with my baby, which was very enjoyable for us both. A follow up session might have been helpful, but I don't think a whole series of classes would have been worthwhile - you kind of have to get on with it and do it yourself. Although it would be good for signing babies / mums to meet with others cos my son only ever really got me and my husband signing to him, and was disappointed that others couldn't understand him!
I didn't take a class but I bought a book for about $25. I wouldn't expect it would take more than one introductory class - there's not very much to learn since you just slowly add signs as you go.
I loved doing it with DS - it was heaps of fun to be able to understand him long before his speech became clear and he really enjoyed doing it.
