Thanks ladies, pretty scary being down here. Thankfully I was already at home cause wasn't feeling well this morning so didn't go into work, so had my wee girl with me. Was at work when the Feb one hit and it was horrid being away from her for so long cause of traffic. DF is manager at his work so he made the call to close for the rest of the day (think most places have!). Glad he is home with us now. Just wish we could leave this place, we don't feel safe anymore
Hope all fellow Christchurchians are OK

ahhh very very over them now! we live in  avonside (eastern suburbs) and yet again got heaps more liqufaction (3rd time now!) , our power is back on now so thats awesome (took 3weeks after feb quake) , we have no water tho (was without that for about 6weeks after feb) and we still have no sewerage from september quake and still have to use the portaloo on street so 10mths without a loo! the next street over is completly flooded for the 3rd time and i just about got my car stuck trying to drive home . I freaked out becasue i was at work and could not get hold of preschool , but on the positive side all my friends and family are fine , dd (23months) was being a wee mother hen at preschool and after the quakes hit she went around patting all the babies and younger kids on the head saying " all right now , shakey shakey all gone" lol wee cutie makes me proud  AND a big fat positive is that we are moving in a month to the other side of the city (where it hasnt been anywhere as badly affected as avonside) I cant wait to finally be out of this war zone ). 10months now and the 3rd big quake and well yup im well over it .

hugs to everyone else in chch.

We just moved into our house on Friday, luckily we unpacked almost all the boxes so we didn't have them stacked up high. We are in Hoon Hay and have liquefaction in our garden and driveway, lots of it was spilling over from the neighbours. Was sure pretty scary so feel very sorry for those who were here in the Feb quake as it was SCARY.
But we are so lucky to have power and now water....wouldn't want to be an unlucky one with no heating tonight.

Hope everyone else is well and coping with the aftershocks.

Nutella - we are moving to hoonhay next month just around the rd from hoonhay primary! i was over there today picking up my partners daughter from school  and all in all it looked ok (a hell of alot better than here in avonside) , i Hadent even really thought about calling my new landlord to make sure its ok but then i read your comments about getting some liquefaction so i should probably call the new landlord tomorow and make sure its still all ok altho im sure its still a million times better to what we are living in at moment . I knew hoonhay got a bit last time and also in one of the smaller aftershocks , apart from liquefaction is there much else damage around the area ? good to hear your power and waters back on and that your all ok , its pretty darn scary thats for sure , id say we will be without water for a while but i was very suprised at how quickly our power came back on (only about 6 hours) .

We are on Hoon Hay Rd, there is a little stretch where the liquefaction is but then down the road all seems fine, so might just be a patch. The neighbours house has to be lifted and piled, major damage yet our house is fine...old wood on piles beats brick on concrete slab it seems. I think a few houses got pretty badly damaged...
We had no water for a while but it came back on fast and there is also a artesian well just down the road...very handy. We didn't lose power at all either, whereas when we were on Colombo St we lost it a few times in the big aftershocks.
Bet you can't wait to move, hopefully the place you are moving into is fine, you probably would have seen any old liquefaction when you had a look at it anyway?? Hope you didn't have too much of a cold night last night!

I agree - very over it by now. We are in Linwood and have more damage and liquifaction too. I would love to move, but I own this worthless pile of house and don't think I could give it away right now!

Karenb- i really really feel for house owners over this side of town (im in avonside) i have been at my rental for over a yr so have been through all 3 big quakes here and the damage over this side of town (including linwood as it is just down the road) is extensive . one of the main reasons we have stayed so long is we dont want to leave our landlords in the lurch , all the other renters in the area that i know of left after sept and then the few that were left then left after feb quake . we just feel really sorry for them as they are such a nice couple but enough is enough and as we are a family with young kids and having to use a portaloo for nearly 10mths and waste water all over our backyard we are calling it quites to avonside . We are lucky in that way that we are renting . i really hope eqc and the council get their AinotG for all you east siders soon as it just cant go on like this much longer . its getting ridiculous . i dont know how they expect people to live like this!

Hi all, we are all fine over here - Hoon Hay as well. Nutella, sounds like you got that place Yay! Shame about the liquefaction again, but yes definitely not as bad as Feb. The whole of Hoon Hay got off pretty lightly this time around, we only sustained slightly more damage to already existing damage so I'm not stressing. Our neighbours house is a write-off though from September, damn brick and concrete tile!

Julz, we are on Sparks, tell R he should get in touch with my DH for a catchup when you move over this side. It's been a while since they've seen each other. Glad you're moving - I really feel for everyone over that side of town

Yip, got the house, it was crazy trying to sort insurance out tho, we have insurance with three different companies for car/house/contents!

I can't imagine living over the eastside with no water and toilets, would drive me nuts, so glad you are able to move Julz. You have done well to last 10 months!!!!

Julz - I take my hat off to you. No way would I have stayed if we didn't have running water and flushing toilets! Its bad enough having the house shake every time a truck drives by (hundreds of times a day) but doing without basic services ...?

We are east-siders, moved out after Sept when our house was written off. I really don't understand why east-siders stay. As long as your insurance company gives the OK to pay your rent then there's really no reason to stay. There are still 2 people living in our old street and they have had liquefaction through their house three times now. Crazy stuff!

We're looking forward to the land reports when they will hopefully write our section off
