Hi everyone

I have just got a bill for the Monday morning hiring of the cafe so we are definitely suffering at a loss though it's only our 2nd week - but I really don't want to have to close the cafe and will keep it open at my own expense (though I don't know how I'll afford that!). We are in the process of applying for Charitable Trust status and then we'll apply for funding that will cover costs like these but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas for

1) Fundraising
2) Sponsorship?

If you don't know what I'm talking about there's more info here:

We already have been donated coffee beans and all related supplies. Right now we need financial donations from local businesses perhaps. Just wondered if anyone had any good ideas?

NB: not doing any more sausage sizzles and definitely not doing the fundraising chocolate!!!

TIA!

Do you have to be a Charity Trust first to apply for funding? I think you do. Apparently it can take up to 6wks even after you get the paperwork sent...!

I did a LOT of grant applications for my last job, and yes you will have to be a registered charitable trust to be eligable and the whole process and paperwork is oh so long and painful (ie if your application gets to them on ANY other date than the exact one they specify, even a day earlier, they sent it back) but obviously worth it if you get money at the end.

I will have a think re ideas, I think what you're doing is fantastic and I'd love to see it work!

I got all the local schools to put in school newsletters and put an ad in the paper and then put lots of flyers up around, beat the feet and put in letter boxes, put up in daycares, playcentres etc....Thats the most effective and cost affective way......I did radio advertising and got real estates to sponsor some signs for my bigger one, but I didnt really get numbers in considering the extra spent
