Topic: Comforter help!!!! Posted: 06 May 2011 at 12:15am |
So DS (nearly 1) is very attached to his wee comforter which is fab! However it reeks!!!!! I have to plan in advance days when I can take it off him to wash and dry as quickly as possible and before he's due for a nap! Also - today his day care forgot to put it in his backpack so I had to go back and get it otherwise good luck getting him to sleep tonight.
So I want to get a second (or even a third) comforter to have as a back up but wondered whether I need to get the exact same one??? The one he's got is an Osh Kosh little teddy with a small blankie attached and I can't find them anywhere! I'm happy to just buy a different type of comforter but didn't know whether that would work the same....
Any advice??

Why don't you give it a shot? The worst that will happen is you have one day where Bubs is out of sorts. You could give him both for a little while (perhaps not every sleep, so he doesn't start to need both at once!!) so her gets familiar with it, and then try taking his old one for a wash.
I sympathise - they get SO smelly!

If you cant get the same one then get one similar, as long as it has the same texture/look then you should be fine. I had the same problem with DD's one, I have two now that I have around, am going to get a third I think as she likes to take it everywhere!

Ive tried to get DD into similar ones but it never works. I managed to hunt down 4 of hers but was hard as they were deleted stock. I know the ones you are talking about though. If you don't mind it being red or pink i can send you one. Will need to check the color when DD wakes up but she doesn't like hers (was one of the attempts to try a different comforter so its lived in her toy hammock for months)
ETA: It's the dark red/pink i have.

Give it a shot with the different one.
DD has this disgusting green one, we bought two of but we left one in storage and its too hard to get. I learnt today not to take her to the washing line when hanging it out!
Mum bought a completely different one and she was happy enough to go to sleep with that one too but we did this at 21mths. So now whatever one we find before bed is the one she has, only one though. The original is still favorite

Haha, we are on number 3 and 4 comforter bunnies here. Numbers 1 and 2 just got too icky. I wasn't brave enough to try a different one, so hunted down the original from the sleep store website.
It's handy having two on the go, you can soak one while the other is being used.
Maybe upload and picture and ask on here if anyone knows where you can buy them from??

My sister bought 2 of the Osh Kosh comfortors in Aussie for us last year, do you know anyone over there that could source them for you?
Otherwise I highly recommend Cuski's which you can buy from the Sleepstore (and are on special at the mo).
My girls LOVE theirs and we have 3. One in the cot, one in the nappy bag and one spare.

OMG that is EXACTLY the right one - I couldn't find them anywhere online and even emailed Osh Kosh the other day (but haven't heard back yet!!!). That would be soooo awesome if you could send me yours - I'll PM you my address. We are actually in Oz now (have moved here permanently) but will send you my Mum's address and she can forward it on! THANK YOU!!!!
