What are your opinions about structure at preschool, versus no structure at preschool?

The centre my daughter goes to now (but is closed because of earthquake) has structure. They have set mat time, learning etc.

The centre at CPIT i have been offered a place at has no structure at all?

What are your experiences on structure vs no structure?

Ditto to what Stacey said.

Also for my eldest, he likes to know what is going to happen next so structure suits him best anyway.

I think for under 3's no structure is great. My two went to a no structure preschool and always had a ball. I think they were too full of engery to have a fully structured day.
I think for 3's and above structure is great for preparing them for school.

However I'm in the same position. I'm in CHCH and we moved just before the last quake so now we are struggling to find kindys in our area. I've found one today that I may go with. They seem to have a good routine going on. I'm not totally sold on this particular place though. So I will put my name down for August and keep looking. With so many places closed it seems to be a case of beggars can't be choosers in CHCH. If you need a spot and have been offered one I would take it and just keep looking for something else :(

Lisa, I found a few ABC's had space, St albans, st martins and one other i cannot remember. Also lollipops. I havent checked them out, but something to look at if you are still looking.

Hmmm Kylah is 3 and a half. I am worrying about the no structure now.
