Go you Emma - I've had to stop mine because I fell pregnant, but it is worth it in the end!
It stings a teeny bit, but the smell of burning hair is worse Its great once it starts falling out - you can 'pluck' yourself with your bare fingers!

It really is - who are you getting it through?
I think the worst part was i'd flinch each time the laser went off - expecting it to hurt (even months later) when it really doesn't
its a great 'me' thing to do

Im going to DR Safari - in dunedin, its quite expensive, but i wanna get it done right. I thought about going to Avana down here - they are alot cheaper that Dr Safari but i wasn't too sure if cheaper is better.

Emma - I had both bikini and underarm treatments at Avana and they were fine! I agree its crazy when you can pluck the hairs out with your fingers, nuts! And I used to flinch as the laser zapped too, but no pain. I got a bit of a hot patch under one armpit when they did it the first time, but I mentioned it and they waited a few more seconds between each zap for the air blower to cool it back down. Good luck & enjoy! I can't wait to get back there once bubs is born and use up the rest of my prepaid treatments

im not too sure how much it is at avana. Buts for my bikini line its $250 per treatment, they suggest you go back every few weeks, this is so it kills the baby folicles.
So if its done right it will never come back!

About 5/6 years ago I had my lower legs, bikini and under arms done and while it was expensive it was definitely worth it!
I had 10 sessions for the lower legs and there are a few strays but now I only need to shave once a month rather than every second day. I only had about 4-5 sessions for my bikini/under arms and they don't look like I've had any treatment there so I think I'm going to go back and get a few more treatments for those areas.
I found those areas more painful to treat than my lower legs but not unbearable. Kind of felt like someone pinging a rubber band on my skin.

I went through the Caci clinic in Rotorua - Paid $1300 for both underarms & my upperlip (I come from a monkey family!)
My lip is great but underarms could still have some more... with Caci you pay it off over 12months, and its a 3years hair free guarentee (obviously mine is on pause for the time being)
They did say different hormone changes (pregnancy, different times of your life, stress) can trigger hair growth, but 1-2 sessions usually knocks it on the head

I went through Caci too and had one bad treatment (they turned the laser up too high and I ended up with blisters all over my leg). So I wouldn't go back there again but I would definitely recommend the treatment.
CrazyCass did the upper lip hurt? I'm keen to get that done at some stage along with some other stray hairs on my chinny chin chin . Not sure if I go for laser or electrolysis for that though.

Nope it was fine - the worst part was me flinching at the light! I did feel the heat in my eye teeth but it was like a split second then it was gone.
Guess it all depends who is holding the laser to how good the experience will be.

I got a great deal on mine and it was only $19/treatment, but its usually around $80 I think? You can usually get prepay deals, so you pay for 4 treatments and its slightly cheaper than paying as you go IYKWIM?
I was told that once you'd hadbetween 4-6 treatments you should be hair free for up to 2 years, then you might need to go back for 1-2 maintenance treatments, but otherwise be hair free. the other thing to consider is that you get the best results if you have darker hair and lighter skin - if you have blonde/red hair it probably won't work as the hair doens't absorb the laser/light, so it doesn't kill the follicle.
