I think it depends on the men's sperm quality...

My DH is 40 and so we do every second day from end of period, until I know I have OV'd...

But if your partner is younger and has no problems, you could do every day if you want around OV time no problems, just don't wear yourself out!!!!

I think 1-2 days is the norm, but not more than once a day (unless within 30min) and don't leave it more than 5 days regardless of where you are in the cycle as that is also bad.... Have also heard that AM rather than PM tends to be a little more successful...

Good luck!!!

We bascially tried for every day the week before Ovulation - and every second day any other time of the month (except AF time of course!)

DH was pretty good, he'd ask if there was any chance of me falling preggo & if it was slim then we'd be off to the bedroom!

Hey booboo, the cycle I got UTD I ov'd on CD15 and we BD'd on days 11,13,15,16.

I ov at roughly the same time every cycle so we always start about CD11 and do every day or every second day until I get a temp rise. My gynae said that every second day was better because it gives the swimmers a chance to replenish themselves fully

Swimmers are meant to be able to hang around for up to 5 days but that's only in fertile CM and I'm not taking any chances

Hey Booboo I was charting when TTC number 1 so we BD'd every day from CD 10 till I got a temp rise. With number 2 we were not TTC yet and think we only BD'd once that month (the joys of having a 5 month old!) and somehow got UTD, so who knows

I will back up the am theory as the first month we tried am BD'ing we got UTD, the previous months we were doing it in the PM

We BD in the morning! DH is a builder works hard all day then our evenings are usually filled in with paperwork, quotes, pricing, meetings etc so there is not much energy to do anything other than sleep!
His alarm is off at 5:30 am, usually catch him earlier so he's not late on site
Good start to the day I say

I dont think we BD enough, but my FS at repromed said to me every 2nd day was enough.

TTC for 4 1/2 years
IVF #1 - April 2012 short BFP, no frosties
IVF #2 - August 2012, BFP!! 3 frosties!

Lol im not a morning person so not really a chance of BDing then for us plus DH is away to work early.

We usually try every 2nd day from CD10 until OV but sometimes if I ov later we run out of steam hehe. This month we did every 2nd day from day 10 then once I got +OPK we did that day and then the next two so it was 10,12,14,15,16.

We normally start around CD10/12 and do every day or every second day up until OV. Usually its around 4 or 5 times in that week and by then we're over it and need a break!

I think the morning BDing theory is interesting as I've just looked back at my charts and my last two BFP's where a result of morning BDing, not sure about the first as I wasn't charting then.
Personally I just BD when I feel like it as I don't really want to make it feel like a chore. Although from after AF to ov I notice I have always been alot more frisky than after ov so it naturally happens quite alot at the "right" time anyway. My naturopath did say that if DP's swimmers where on the low side then we would need to cut back to every 2nd day, but as that is not a problem there is no need (thankfully as I would of hated to have that conversation with DP).

Interesting reading everyone's theories.
I'm like Didi and don't want it to be a chore so just do it when feel like it. We have very different libido's which makes it rather frustrating at times! I usually try to get in a couple sessions around ov - normally manage one right on ov.

Yep in the morning Booboo! I was lucky that the month I got UTD with no1 was labour weekend so there was no getting up early for either of us

Edited to say: Booboo if you know your cycle well and can predict when you will ov, try and book some time off for you and your DH and have a wee 'mini break'
