I just started one day, DD didnt seem to notice and settled in well. I did it at about 3 months as we had a larger hanging bassinet.

Yep, we did the bassinette in the cot for a few nights too! I think it really helped. Although, we didn't shift him until he was about 5 months old!

We moved the bassinet into DS's own room at 8 weeks, then after two nights he went straight into his cot and it was absolutely fine, no complaints whatsoever

GL, I hope it goes super smooth!

We put E in a merino sleeping bag in her bassinette for 2 nites, then transitioned her straight to cot, so at least the sleeping bag would be familair. worked resl well! we did this at 10 weeks i think.

well i have had her in there in her basinette for day sleeps and she is a lot harder to settle, its funny that, she really knows its not 'her' room hehe.. but i'll keep persevering, might be a case of her being a wee bit young just yet, yep a wee bit prem so she might be a bit behind

Ahhh so could be more a room thing than a bed thing? A different thing to try is put her on her side when you put her down, that always works for E during the day - i know side sleeping is now a nono so i only do it during the day when I can watch her, but if i had to at nite i would put her on her side then move her 10mins later. weird how she just settles much better on her side, and i see the baby whisperer recomends it too.
Na the prem thing won't mean she is behind, just go by corrected age and when you think its right for her. we were planning for 6 months but it just happened earlier in the end! Looks like she wasn't too prem just a few weeks so shouldn't be too much of a difference.

Yeah, I agree with the above, I moved DS into his room for day sleeps in the bassinette around 2 months old, did that for about a month, then put the bassinette into his cot, did that for a few weeks, then I put him on the bassinette mattress in the cot for a few days, then took that away and he began sleeping all his day sleeps in the cot. It took me a while after that to move him into the cot permanently at night too as it made me sad hehe, but once I did it went fine as he was so used to being in there. I think gradually is the key, and if you think it's not working wait a little bit and try again. I had to go back to the beginning and try again when things got a bit messed up with routine, so I went from bassinette matress in the cot back to whole bassinette for a bit. Also a few difficult days may happen but she will get used to it after that.
