Topic: Show Likers - YES or NO Posted: 06 April 2011 at 8:34pm |
In response to this thread. http://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=38631&PN=2
Seems some people want to see who liked their post and some people don't. Like Yes or No below. I'll decide when I think there has been enough response :)
Do you really want to get an email everytime someone liked you post? Maybe we could do something like the private messenger? Ie something pops up when you get a new "like".

I don't want an email, but I would like to roll my mouse over the like thing and see who "liked" it if you get what I meant?

I like the idea of a 'like' function just like they have in Facebook.

No to the notification
But I'd like it to be in a better place where it is more noticeable. I keep forgetting its there cos its so damn small.

oh wow just found out you can do it!
I think email notifications are unnecessary, could it be an option in the profile, like a box you check?
I think it would be good to have it like facebook where it lists who has 'liked' the post.

Maybe you could have two - an "anonymous like" button and a "like" button that lists the likers - for those not afraid to own their opinions ...
I think the private message pop-up idea as notification is a great idea! I do agree it's a bit OTT getting an email for every like

I think anonymous is probably better as I think we will see more arguements (like that cliqueiness thread) where the same people agree with opinions and then get seen as being in a clique or ganging up on others. I just think not being able to see who likes it will keep the peace a little bit more.... JMO!

I find this interesting,Im on another forum where we have a Non anonymous like button, and thats on a forum of people all ages, including young teens, and there has never been an issue.
I personally would find it sad that a bunch of women who should be mature enough to realise that everyone is entitled to their opinions would have arguments about it when a bunch of teenagers don't.
Just my opinion,I will go along with whichever decision of course (cos I wouldn't have a choice, but anyway !)

i dont think an email is necessay every time someone likes your post but it would be nice to see who the likers are - just like on FB.
i think it pretty pathetic myself that people are "scared" to voice an opinion or even to agree or like someone elses. How are you going to stand up for your child in the real world if an internet forum scares you?!

I don't see the point in liking a comment if you don't want people to know it was you??
I would be happy with knowing

I have no issue with people seeing I've agreed to an opinion/statement (if you don't want people to know you agree, then don't push 'like' - simple).
I think an email is OTT, but like the idea of a pop-up

I like the idea of rolling over the 'like' button to see who liked what. So you can see who liked everyone elses posts not just yours.
If people are wanting to be anonymous it seems they're only liking to be nasty, in which case it would be better not to have that ability so they don't have something to hide behind. Seems extra catty in here lately, so would be nice to get back to the nice friendly forum I've enjoyed over the last few years.
PS - Bit two-faced of me really since I changed my username to be a little more anonymous (used to be chelle).

I would also like to say,as far as any issues with cliques on here is concerned, that I would only like a post if I agreed with it,not just because I was friends with the person posting it,im sure most people would be the same
