QuoteReplyTopic: Nasty sores on bottom Posted: 11 March 2011 at 5:02pm
DD has just had chicken pox and its left her with some nasty sores on her outer labia, where the spots have become raw and open. One of them stained her nappy with blood today. She screams when she wees, until the urine is all soaked into the nappy. It's horrible.
I'm giving her as much barebum time as I can without giving her hypothermia! And I've been putting bactroban on it to try and keep on top of the infection. Any other ideas, or just patience?
If it's not looking better by Monday take her to the Dr. It is really easy to get bacterial skin infections down there (DD had a really bad one which has left scars) and tell the Drs to give you some penicillin based antibiotics to treat the infection. I found no other types of antibiotics worked at all and DD was in pain for ages.
Oh the poor thing. Lily was 5 months old with chicken pox and ended up with the same raw wounds on her bits. I didnt go near pinetarsol however - LOTS of nappy off time to help let them dry out :) and an antiseptic cream as well!
My DD has just had a nasty fungal infection down there and had several large spots as well as one that was like a deep 'crater' that did stain her nappy with blood on the odd occassion. Tried all sorts of creams and anti biotics but nothing seemed to work very well so the Doc suggested trying this 'honey' type cream. (I think it is actually called Honey, but it's not table honey lol... looks like manuka honey but you get it in a tube) and you can get it at the chemist. My doc gave me some free of charge (thankfully, cause apparently it's quite expensive) but it cleared it up really quickly so I'd suggest maybe trying that. Or even ask your doc if they can give you some
