Could someone please suggest some really yummy restaurants? Preferably between south Auckland and the city.

Cheers

It's right in the city, but our fave is Tanuki's Cave. It's yakitori, so you order a bunch of skewers (DH and I usually order 3 each). It's pretty popular and doesn't take bookings, so they suggest you go early, or on something like a Sunday night.

Depends what you want to spend. There are some really good ones in Epsom if you want fancy food - One Tree Grill or Saison. Epsom is quite handy to the new motorway from South. Straight up Manukau Road. We live south and eat out there a lot.

There's also a Japanese Teppanyaki place there in Greenwoods corner which is a fun way of eating. Or also for Japanese food there is Sake Bar Nippon also in Epsom and it is right by the Lido if you fancy a movie and a meal. Sake Bar is a real experience and if there's a group of you they have a karaoke bar upstairs.

I went to a great place this week where if you get a table of 8 together on a Monday or Tuesday it is $15 per person, that was called Pane and is in Ponsonby.

Secret Garden in Otahuhu is always yummy and great value if you fancy Asian food.

I second Tanuki's Cave - YUM! If you're into that kinda thing, Ken Yakitori on K'Rd is delicious too!

It really does depend on what type of food and how much you want to spend -

Ginas (Italian) at the top of Symonds Street, is super yummy!

Bouchon - in Kingsland, French bistro

Sal Rosa - Mt Albert (Italian family style)

Ken Yakatori - K Rd or bottom of Anzac Ave - Japanese skewers yummmmmmo!!

I also agree on Tanuki's cafe

Other options: Portofino Mission Bay, The Grove in the CBD, Mai Thai & Vivace, also in the CBD. All have really good food.

Ginas on Symonds Street or the Mexican Cafe on Victoria Street are always good fun. There is also the Orbit Restaurant at Skycity for something different.

If you wanting something closer, there is Goode Brothers in Botany - lower key than the restaurants above but very yummy food!

There is also a new place called the Food Store in the viaduct which has live cameras filming for Food TV (not all the time am sure you could look up the times though if you wanted avoid those times!). I went there for lunch the other week with work and was very impressed with the food and the service was fantastic.

Love Lone star at the moment, yum!

Daikoku, that is great for the experience - the show they do while cooking the food

Mecca in chancery is nice too.

Portofino at the viaduct

Vivace - on High Street in the city, beautiful food and beautiful atmosphere!

Prego - Ponsonby Road again great food and atmosphere

Tanukis Cave is great but can be a little packed and loud and I have had 3 or more friends get food poisoning from there.

Prego can be a bit loud - the last 2 times we have been (both mid week) I have found it to be too loud to hold a conversation unless you sit outside!

Theres a restaurant on Ponsonby road that is apparently quite cool and eccentric. I'll ask my Bros GF when I see her I think it was japenese or something.

Otherwise the secret thai garden I LOVE that place!

Or go to the food store in the Viaduct its the tv kitchen from the food network. Vivace, or la zeppa tapas are awesome.
