This is going to be a bit of a fluffy post but I'm in that kind of mood and just had to share.
I've had an exhausting few days, I had to take my littlest dude into Starship on Sunday where he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
He's getting better now, but I've been a bit down in the dumps about it all. We had an awful year last year with continual colds and the like and I was really hoping this year would be better, especially with wee Jack here now.
After 6 weeks of having a cold which then turned into bronchiolitis, now pneumonia, it makes me feel really sad for him and just hopeless as to what else I can do...
Anyway, today I had to go to the supermarket and I had all 3 kids in tow.
My two big ones have been bouncing off the walls a bit as we've been staying home to give Jack as much rest as possible. They were being a tad rowdy but not naughty and when I had an older lady approach me I braced myself for some unwanted parenting advice or the like.
She said that she saw me as I came in and it reminded her of when she was younger with her children. She said the thing she hated most was having to cook dinner at the end of a day juggling the kids and the housework and that she wanted to make things easier for me.
She handed me $20 and said that there was a special on roast chickens, 2 for $20 and that I was to buy some on her.
I protested of course but she waved me away, I was speechless! (although I thanked her profusely of course)
What a lovely thing for her to do for someone she doesn't know.
I got quite teary afterwards, I'm so grateful.
So, I don't really have a point except to say that her random act of kindness for a tired looking stranger has completely changed my perspective today.
I've gone from having a general pity party to feeling grateful, happy and blessed and I want to pay it forward somehow.
Please share your experiences of random acts of kindness, given and received and inspire me some more.

That's awesome, what a kind lady to do that! And yay for less cooking, and as an aside cooked chickens are so expensive these days! I'm glad she has brightened your day!

Aww thats so nice!
I had a bottle of wine left on my doorstep the day before christmas from a couple who i helped with there car when it broke down in the middle of the mcdonalds carpark (really didnt do much just offered to tow them to garage and waited with them as the husband tinkered wife wasnt convinced he could do it so asked if id wait just in case, and much to her suprise he got it going so really only sat with her for 10min)

Oooh, I have one to share. It happened a while ago, but still makes me happy to think of it.
My Grandma crocheted Jacob this pretty baby blanket. It was really pretty, and SO handy for his walks in the pram. Anyway, one day it must have fallen out - I didn't notice till I went to use it the next time I went to use the pram the day after. I re-traced my steps, to no avail, then printed out some pamphlets and put them in every letterbox along the way I'd walked. As my friend and I were walking back from pamphleting, a lady walked towards us carrying the blanket. Her son had picked it up and brought it home - she didn't even live in the area I pamphleted, but had been visiting a friend and seen the pamphlet and rushed back to bring it round to our house.

I had a man carry my shopping to the car one night when I did a quick dash to the supermarket. I had DD with me so was really appreciative that he did so.

Ohhh caraMel, your story made my day and brought tears to my eyes! What a lovely lady!! I'm sorry your wee man has been crook, sending you lots of healthy vibes for him too.
When I was heavily pregnant with DS2 I took Callum to an indoor kids' gym here for the afternoon. We went to the supermarket afterwards and then when we came upstairs to get a taxi it was POURING down (in that way it only can in Singapore!) and I didn't have an umbrella. I grabbed my shopping and put C on my hip preparing to get soaked when a lovely, lovely woman offered to carry my bags and sheltered C and I with her umbrella (she got soaked herself) and helped us down the steps and into a taxi. Such a kind gesture and really made my day.

Awww that is super sweet!!!!
I had the lady at the checkout that was serving me give me $5 as I was short and I stood there trying to work out which food to take off and she insisted I take the $5 and drop back to me when I could..........so i raced in the next day with $5 and some flowers!!
Im over due for my next random act......will keep an eye out for someone in need

Awww these stories are great, had me nearly in tears tho. Some people can be just so kind. Wish I was one of them more often.

on a slightly different (sorry to thread jack) note....isnt it sad that we view things as "kindness" today, when in reality its often just good manners. For example, I will always offer my seat to an older person, I often stop and help elderly people with the shopping trolleys / load groceries into their cars etc...I never think of it as a "kindness" rather just good upbringing and respect.
