She wondered why there were no threads of people going 'omg I think I'm pregnant' or something similar and something about young teenagers or the average teen... Can't quite remember. Wondered if they got deleted before anyone got a chance to see them.

well im young (22 now, 20 when i found out) and i guess we are more likely to look for groups/friends in the due in threads - spesh if it was a surprise.

also, if i got pregnant again now, i would be posting in general with excited 'omg im pregnant' news, but if i didnt know anyone or how people reacted with age and marital status, i would be more inclined to ease into it.

happy 10 months for yesterday gorgeous little Lily!!!

You know, that kind of is a good question! Not that it really matters or that the answer is particularly important, but you see those kind of posts all over the web, it's curious we don't get more here.

Sorry, that was me trying to edit my first post to make more sense and then the computer crashing on me and it was like midnight and i really couldnt face trying to start it back up, connect back to the net etc and thought i'd get back here before anyone else noticed to be confused!!

Basically i said that i was lurking around on a few other boards and they seem to be inundated with

a) Spam
b) Trolls
and
c) numerous "hi, i'm 16 i had sex last week and my boyf didnt pull out and now i feel sick do you think i'm pregnant" type of posts

And i was wondering why i havent seen any here at all - do we have super moderators that delete them as fast as they appear?

And i asked because honestly, i havent seen any 'moderators' as it were, i've only ever seen one post from one administrator (not that thats a bad thing, wasnt being critical) was just overall curious as to who is running this show behind the scenes!

That's a good question, maybe because ohbaby isn't a super popular site that comes up easily in searches?

There are admin but they normally only come in and remove something for advertising or when threads get too heated and I think that is only when people report the post.

Good question. I think it might be more of the whole feel of OB as to who might feel more comfortable posting here. Most people seem to be more mature so they could feel strange posting those silly things here and probably different search terms in search engines

if i saw a post like that, tbh i dont know if i would facepalm or if i would try and explain things...

im kinda worried about how little sex ed kids are getting these days. i think there should be more of a 'puberty studies' (lol) not just 'sex ed'

I think a lot of spam/advertising posts get reported to admin and deleted. I know when i have reported these types of posts in the TTC thread, as i HATE them and its really sad people are trying to prey on us that would do anything to have a baby, admin normally delete them in a couple of hours.

I know admin have said before that they need us to report posts like that and they are good at getting onto it (even if we dont see them)

as lame as it sounds thats how i came to be on OB.

i was so confused as to what was up with my cycle and wasnt TTC including 1x + test but then lots of neg tests and came here to see if anyone could help me figure it out.

turns out i was preg and blood tests confirmed it (and the wonderful guys in TTC suggested i go for bloods)
and were supportive when i ended up m/c.

so i stuck around and now i just hang out everywhere posting where i feel the need. and hang out in the waiting to TTC area.

I think that you would be suprised how much work the moderators and admins do "behind the scenes".... they do a fantastic job IMO!!!

Funny, I've reported things that haven't gotten deleted. Oh well.

But yeah, I agree with the whole 'maturity' feel to this site. I think a lot of young girls, because face it a lot of us on here are women, think I've only ever seen 2 men post!, feel like maybe they wouldn't fit in or simply may not care enough to ask.

DD isn't my first pregnancy and I know that first one I never jumped online or anything, so 2nd time round with DD I jumped straight on the net to get what info I could and that's when OB popped up, but I was 7/8weeks UTD and I didn't actually post for a couple of months, just lurked.

I guess maybe the moderators could delete those types of posts, but I wouldn't see the point in them doing so if we could help educate some people... If that makes sense.

I agree with MLS, kids get virtually no sex ed these days, I remember in year 10 (so 6 years ago) we had 1 class dedicated to it in health and in that class we covered condoms and briefly discussed the other protection options, girls didn't get to put the condom on a wooden penis but the guys did. And most of it was focused on STIs... and a brief mention that unprotected sex could lead to an unwanted/unplanned pregnancy and stis.

We had a general assembly (I can't remember what year it was in) where they had a couple of trained sex ed educators in to do a session.

I've always thought that thought I'm not a fan of them in general (I don't like the body image issues I think they give young people), the teenage girly magazines often give pretty good sex advice.

But somehow, you're right, so many young girls seem to end up clueless!

We had the awkward split into boys and girls groups and go to seperate halls thing. Mostly it was about your period and tampons/pads. And it was cringe-worthy.
I don't remember being taught about sex at all, just got the misinformation from my friends and from magazines like girlfriend and dolly!

Anyway, question answered i think - now i know there are a whole bunch of folk out there somewhere watching us

ETA: And i'll third that they must be doing a damn good job because i'm yet to see anything abusive or spammish here and i was lurking a long time before i was posting!

I think in some ways oh baby is a bit more upmarket than some of the other sites.

I found oh baby off weddings.co.nz and I know quite a few people who have come from there.
