Daycare Question

Not in Auckland but my friend is the head teacher at a DC in Remuera. They change $105 a day (I think now) regardless of hours child is in. They also had anything and everything you can think for a baby there. It is the DC used by all the celebs.

Here in Palmy about $250 I think is standard for fulltime DC of a baby. The place Josh goes to have a wonderful babies area.

i have recently had to move my DD from one preschool to another beacause the old preschool was closing there under 2';s area next yr. the under 2's at her old preschool was VERY small ( they had a max 7 babies but would ussualy only have 2 or 3 babies ) more often than not my DD would venture into the over 2's and play with them , it was a very small centre tho so all the kids were very closely monitored and all played together, it was charged on an hourly rate ($5.50 an hr) and i had to pack her lunch and nappies  . Her new preschool is a much bigger centre , it is a purpose built centre , only 18mths old , it has 5 seperate class rooms (0-14months, 14months-2, 2-3yrs , and at the moment 3-5yrs but once the role increases that will also be split to 3-4's and 4-5's) in saying that they do tend to mix them quite a bit , there is 3 seperate outdoors areas and they are really awesome , in the under 2's outdoors area they have a sandpit , swings, baby slides , little tykes cars , theres a big white bunny that jumps around outside (they are really good at picking up his droppings) , they also have a mouse in a cage and a bird in a cage inside , HEAPS of toys and books plus they supply ALL the food AND nappies and there rates are $26 half day ( up to 6 1/2hrs) or $52 a full day ( open 7am-6pm) its a great centre for working parents because they dont even close over xmas ( apart from the 2 stat days) Financially it works out cheaper at the new one for me because dd is in for 3 half day sessions a week ( 3  6 1/2 hr sessions) plus of course they supply food and nappies which is a bonus .

i have been happy with both preschools, i think at the end of the day it is the teachers that make the difference , TBH i preferred the teachers at the first preschool dd went to and even tho it was a small centre and no where near a flash as her new one i would have kept her there if they didnt have to close the under 2's (government funding) purely because the teachers were so lovely , they really went out of their way for DD as at her new one i sometimes just feel lke she is  a number as they have so many babies there .
