    Posted: 21 November 2010 at 11:28am
I am wondering if my little 1yo has an intolerance to cows milk. I was really silly and gave him a whole bottle (200ml) of cows milk the first time he tried it instead of introducing it slowly. I guess I thought because he was by that time on Toddler Formula and tolerating it well that it wouldn't be too different. And I have given him sips of cows milk during the day (formula at night) since that first time.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing. He is getting diarrhoea and so I've decided to cut out not just cows milk but yoghurt as well and custard etc. and give his body a few days to recover and then reintroduce cows milk slowly to see if he can tolerate it again. Will be such a pain if he can't!

Does anyone else have any experience with diarrhoea in reaction to cows milk and if so - have they tolerated it since by re-introducing slowly or will I have to wait till he grows out of it do you think?

it could be lactose intolerance. you could try him on the lactose free milk that you get from the supermarket to see if that makees a difference

Could just be that he got waaay too much at once (which you already know) and once his body has returned to normal he might tolerate it fine
