Topic: A dare for all to try Posted: 12 November 2010 at 4:23pm |
Who is able to do a bridge?
For those who have no idea what im talking about a bridge is when you lie on your back, put your hands flat above your head and push your torso and head off the ground.
I used to be able to do them simple as when I was little, I just tried, I failed, man my head is heavy!
Lol, thought it would be some fun for the day

I thought a bridge was when you lie on your stomach and hold yourself up on your forearms and tips of your toes.... works the whole body. What's that???
Either one I can't do lol!

VS, the one u mentioned is also a plank or prone hold, it depends on where you go as to what its called.
as for the bridge in the original post....
umm i can get my bum up and get the curve on, can lift my shoulders but cant get my head off the ground.
dont quite have enough arm strength.

I am sure we used to call that a crab's bend....I was brought up in the UK ....
As to whether I can still do it....not a chance! Wouldn't even risk the embarrassment of having to explain what has happened to the docs at A&E!!

Was just going to say, that's a pose we did at yoga. However, haven't attempted that one in a few months, may not work out too well at 31 weeks pregnant

dahaha Julz I used to be able to just bend backwards and go straight into a bridge. Hmmm to try to try I'm scared I'll smack my head now probably could still do it though
ETA that I used to be able to stand up on one leg and wrap my other leg round DP's waist with my leg reaching behind me without it being a big deal. Did it one night and freaked everyone out hahahaha

Just tried and I can do it just, managed to get my head off the ground but couldn't get my arms straight. I used to be really good at it, but then I could also do the splits when I was younger!

Same as Linzy, I can get my head off the ground but not straighten my arms. My back was too creaky and sore.
That was a little frightening, as I assumed I could do it still easy peasy. I tried a handstand yesterday too and couldn't do it. DS thought it was funny though

Omg I can get my arms straight and head off the floor, now that's a surprise. I used to be able to push myself up to standing (a veeeeeery long time ago), but I don't think that's ever going to happen again.
