Hi ladies,

DD is just about 15 months old, she has her patches where she sleeps through the night but just lately we have been to Auckland for 2 weeks where she only slept through 1 night, she was extremely unsettled up there so didn't mind things too much.

We have now been back for just over a week and we've had maybe 1 or two sleep throughs, but I don't know if she will go back to sleeping through again. She just wakes and screams and screams, and when she screams like this she screams and ends up vomiting.

I'm tired, I work full time and I only have a matter of weeks to get her sleeping through. We are moving to Australia in December and I know the first few weeks will be unsettled again, but I want to get her into routine and back to sleeping through.

I just don't know how. I've tried leaving her but I can't do it, it breaks my heart and it just makes her worse off.

What else can I do, and are there any other 15 month olds that aren't sleeping through?

Help please.

Thanks.

My 15mo DD2 has only just started sleeping through, that said we don't really have any consistency with it, we might get 3-4 days in a row then 2-3 nights with a wakeup or two, we have learned to just roll with it.

It's still normal for babies this age to wake, and I couldn't (more to the point, I actually won't) leave her to CC or CIO - at the most if I'm really exhausted I will wait a minute in the night to see what's happening, and then get up.

Screaming to the point of vomiting sounds really stressful, I wonder if there are any other issues going on for her? Is she teething? Sore tummy? I'm assuming you go in and cuddle / soothe her and she doesn't respond well? (Happy to be corrected here.)

I could give you a few suggestions but I'm not sure what would help the most, except for perhaps a little Rescue Remedy - it's safe for both you and her and should assist in easing the stress of things.

Big hugs!

Thanks Hippymama, we pretty much had a sleep through last night and the night before. Only one wakeup each night but was before we went to bed.

I might look into the rescue remedy though.

When she wakes, Dh and I have a night on, night off so whoever is on duty waits a few minutes to check whether she is awake or just awake and off to sleep again, if she is awake we will make a bottle for her and sometimes she will come in and co-sleep (we have been doing this heaps!) mainly due to earthquake and tiredness and also me being away because she wouldn't go back in her own bed. Now I am trying to make sure she is back in bed if waking during middle of night.

I know she doesn't need the bottle during the night though, plunket have told me she doesn't need it. I've tried water with her and she'll take it but often doesn't settle after it.

The vomiting isn't proper vomit though its the milky vomit, but its still horrible for her. I suspect it is due to all the crying and phlegm from working herself up.

What other sugestions do you have, I would like to hear them

Arghh Poor Seneka and poor you!!

Sounds like somethings really bugging her when she does wake, seems as shes crying to the point of vomitting.

With Isabella Ive used rescue remedy and it works well, also bonjela often settles her if its teeth. You could also try this stuff called Kids calm, its from the health shop and its pure cammomile, I use it and its great for calming Bella as she gets very worked up. You just put 0.2ml in their milk.

Ive tried co sleeping with bella but she hates it, she just wants to be held and walked round and at 3am thats really tiring! I sometimes put a top ive been wearing in with her too when she is having the bottle, and these things seem to settle her most times.
