Mr 7 months has diarrhea. On day six now. How long does a bout ususally last for? Doctors won't do anything at the moment apart from letting it run its course. I know my babies health is more important, but he is fine apart from this and I am out of sick leave!! Any remedies/suggetsions???

sorry mack had rotavirus really bad and the runs didnt actually stop for ages. i finally found out that some kids develop a temporary lactose intollerance and it stopped once i gave him lactose free formula. if he is on solids try and stay away from dairy (obviously not milk though) it doesnt affect all kids but there is a small percentage. we took mack off cheese and yogurt and stuff. there isnt much that can be done. make sure their fluid intake is good and maybe try some foods that are known for blocking babies up. i cant think of any right now but i think banana is known for causing constipation so it might help firm things up a bit

I have been told that in general if you have food poisoning/gastro etc not to have dairy or eggs. Apparently when you have these products it just keeps causing problems iygwim

The last bout we had lasted for 7 days (joy) The Drs didnt seem to want to do anything to 'slow' things down but you do need to keep an eye on the fluids - do you have pedilyte?
Maybe go back to the drs when its been a week - have they taken samples already?

Is there a formula that is lactose free? I can't stop giving him his milk but I'm sure its feeding it. Only one dirty nappy today so far...touch wood!! Hopefully it may have come right.
