What would you do re cot...

Hey so I have a 2nd hand cot that we got off MIL friend for free. It's a mothers choice one (or mothers something) anyway the drop side clips are broken so it doesn't actually stay upright iygwim so for example if you lean against it, it moves towards the cot. Hope that makes sense!

Anyway I was told to check out the Pamco site as they have spare parts for cots BUT their parts don't look like what I need for my cot so I am wondering if it would be better for me to turn the cot around so the drop side is facing the wall and the side that doesn't move is on the outside (but how practical would that be for getting DD in and out?) or if I should just get a new cot but then again I don't know how long it'll last, or when she'll need to move to a big girls bed iygwim!

Anyway what would you do? I'm just concerned for when she starts crawling or pulling herself up etc. I apparently used to be able to flip myself over the cot from about 15 months old...

I'd get it fixed or bolted. Get a handy type to have a look. I sometimes don't lower the rail, but our girl is quite light so its not a probelm.

It's annoying when they don't work. My DH made our cot and its too long and we have to put a rolled up towel at the foot end. I thinking we may have to get another mattress made tho as bubs is getting taller!

Ah okies thanks! Yeah we thought about bolting it and I've had a practice with getting her in and out but she's over 10kg at 6 months so rather heavy. Anyway going to take a look on TM or see if there is any sales happening and see.

Will also try baby factory etc jic they have anything!

I just worry she'll somehow break it off or something!

As I know she can't go anywhere atm I just leave it down but with her now being able to roll both ways and sit - it's not going to be long before she learns something new!

MIL friend had twins and so going to take a look at the other cot just have to check that it's not broken too.

Ours only has one level which is the lowest level hence why I just leave the side down, I am hoping she won't be like me, I would constantly break free and flip myself over the top of the cot or play pen lmao.

Safety sleep might be an option. Going to measure our mattress and see if it'll fit in another cot I've just seen which can also convert to a toddler bed so would last longer if that makes sense... Otherwise we'll prob just bolt it up.

If you do decide to go down the new cot route, then you should go to www.babies.co.nz we spent $275 on our cot and that was with a mattress too, and it's beautiful. So you don't have to pay the huge prices at baby factory etc and it turns into a couch or a bed as well so you wouldn't have to worry that it won't be used for long

I got some spare parts from pamco - but we had a pamco cot. The supplier of your cot might do the spare parts too?
