So I was just wondering, Does anyone check the position of their cervix? I was just having a look on fertilityfriend as if I don't get pregnant on my next cycle I'm going to start charting and was wondering if anyone does check and if they do how accurate do you find it?

I didnt with DS but did with this one... you need to do it at the same time each day as it moves throughout the day (or with the moon and tides as my gynae says).

I couldnt do it without gloves though LMAO... went through a box of latex gloves

Yeah I check it every now and then or when I remember. It took me a bit to get used to what was high, meduim, low, open etc .....
I do notice the changes from fertile position to non fertile but I dont rely on it too much as I dont do it very often
You also have to check it the same time everyday as it can move and change during the day.

Google my beautiful cervix for more info - note their are pictures, if your a little squrmish best you dont google

I did, though it does take a little while to figure out what is high and low. I found it was also a good way to see if my cm was fertile quality or not.

Yeah CM is what is prompting me to consider becoming a cervix checker. May talk to DP tonight and see what he thinks.

I've noticed my cervix position during AF because I use a moon cup. It starts high & then comes down really low later in AF.

I did check my cervix when I was TTC but more so for the feel of it, whether it was soft or harder, but was quite hard to figure it out.

Yeah I did this too when I was charting. Took me a month to figure out what the different positions were at the different stages. Once I did it helped to know whether I was gearing up for o and AF. Like Mel said, it's really important to check it at the same time each day.

I think when I first got the guts to check out the beautiful cervix site my jaw literally dropped. Won't be going there ever again but it was, well, informative

Good luck with it!

I told DH I was going to. But each time I tried it, I got the giggles and I just couldn't do it.... Then DH would ask if I'd done it, and I'd get the giggles again....

Woops, real mature!

I've never got the hang of it. Been charting about 18 months.
I'm not squeamish (another mooncup convert), so not bothered with the gloves (shock horror!!) I only check in the shower after I've washed and conditioned hair and done face wash and body wash, so hands are as clean as could be.

I think the high and low distinction was as far as I got, certainly couldn't figure out texture, and as for whether os open or close, all felt the same to me.

That beautiful cervix site I loved, but I appreciate its not everyones cuppa!

Those of you who have checked out "my beautiful cervix" welcome to my world (that that of GP's, Practice nurses and other health professionals the world over). So far this week I've done 3 smears which means 3 different cervix'es. And while it doesn't gross me out (well occaisonally it does) it's never going to be on my list of fav parts of nursing.

AFM I check it's position every now and again. I do it while I'm in the shower with really clean hands. No rubber gloves.
