Hi, Looking for others who are following the CLB Routines? My 6 week old is doing really well following the routine, but am finding it hard to keep her aake some days, any ideas? :)

i have purchased and read the book .. it seems really sensible and fairly easy to follow if at home but unsure how it will work if out and about! ... have yet to test as my baby *is*/*was* due today!!!!!

would love some feedback!

i tried it with my first boy but he was just way too sleepy. we roughly followed it but he was weeks behind his age. my friend did it for both his boys and they slept thru at 7 weeks (green with jealousy!)

i found that hard too - when i tried to extend his A times i'd have quiet time so carrying or holding him - dancing, reading, walk in pram etc. And i'd plan to do it for a week and increase 15 mins for the middle A time then bring the others up 15 ans then stretch out the middle A time another 15 etc. After a few days he could cope well with longer A's.

clb is hard but people who stick to it say it works.

I did CLB with both my girls but I found that they both needed a lot more sleep than GF suggested so I adapted the routines to suit us. We didn't really click with it until they were about 2 - 3 months. The routine we followed was (as far as I remember )
7am get up, feed, get dressed
8 - 8.30 ish back to bed until nearly 10
10 feed, outing
Noon-ish sleep (until about 2.30ish)
Feed play ect, then a short afternoon nap at about 3.30 - 4ish. Then feed bath feed bed by 7ish.
I am sure that there was a bit more to it but it was a while ago. The late afternoon nap was the first to go, at about 4 months and then bed time came forward to about 6.30. Both kept the morning sleep until about 16 months. My younger daughter is 2 1/2 and is still having an afternoon sleep (today she went to bed at 1pm and is still sleeping now -almost 3pm )

I liked the principles behind it but I just wasn't going to try and stretch out a sleepy baby to fit into a routine (picture screaming overstimulated baby who now won't sleep). I also felt if I tried to stick to the routines that I'd end up messing with her feeding but I'm a big believer in demand feeding. So I guess I didn't stick strictly to the routines but I definitely applied a lot of the general concepts.

yes, i think that understanding the concepts is the key, if you just flip to the back of the book and try to follow the routine i dont think it would work, as all babies are different. my DD didi reslly well yesterday and stuck to the routine, had an exerlent night and woke happy and content. but today she is 6 weeks and she has her shots, so the days gone to put! loads of sleeping and eating at weird times. you win some you loose some i guess.
I dont demard feed, but have the greatest respect for those who do! to each thei own, what ever works. But there when you dont demard feed people tend to look at you lke you are mad :)

We did it with my DD, but as like othershave said we found the awake times FAR too long, so just adjusted it to suit her. We'd move on to the next routine when she was comfortably staying awake for the routine she was on, so for e.g she was still on the 3 week routine when she was 6 weeks old. She slept through from 5 1/2 weeks, but was also a big (10lb6oz) baby which may have contributed!

We did CLB with Callum, but didn't follow the routines to the letter as he was prem and needed lots of sleep. As some of the others have said, it's important to follow the concepts as opposed to the actual "routine." GF does say that if your baby needs more sleep then let him/her sleep

I would wake C to feed him (unless he was having a crap sleep day and I knew he really needed it) but if he was showing tired signs "early" I would put him to bed.

CLB worked really well for Callum, it really seemed to suit him. We'll be doing it again with #2 and hoping it works out just as well!

At the risk of sounding very ignorant ...what is CLB ??

I've always been a go with the flow sort of mum ,my kids are tired, I put them down , they are hungry , I feed them ....8 and a half years later , my way has worked fine for me .
You just gotta do what works for you , as is the case with most parenting

CLB = Contented Little Baby by Gina Ford

I considered using it after a friend highly recommended it but couldn't see how it would work as Cooper was a really sleepy baby for the first 6 weeks, then a cat napper so it just wasn't gonna work!

Some good info in the book though.
