I've heard rumours that this stuff is just an unnecessary marketing ploy but Ash won't drink any kind of milk (cow, soy, rice) and I can't express so we've been giving her some of this formula once or twice a day in addition to her food and breastfeeds.
She had the infant (6 months plus) one for a while and that was fine. However, she has been so unsettled lately and I'm wondering if it could be this formula?
Does anyone know how/if the toddler one differs from the 6 month + one?
We are using Karicare...the plain one (i.e. not the gold one). It was opened 1.5 weeks ago. Good idea re: phoning them. Thanks! I just wish she'd eat more so I wouldn't feel that she needed extra milk. She stopped feeding off my right breat at 10months and I don't even get much in the left anymore despite feeding her around 3 times a day. At the end of the day she will easily drink a 200mL bottle after her breastfeed if is on offer.
The toddler formula is not suitable as complete milk food, it's designed to complement solids. The stage 1 and 2 ones are designed as complete milk food.
DS won't drink cow's milk either! So he has been having formula. There has been some research out of Otago that suggests toddler formula is actually really good for making sure kids get their iron and other vitamins and minerals, so it's not just a marketing ploy. Although if you have a good eater and offer a varied diet she should be fine on plain cow's milk.
