I was wondering when i should start teaching Bay to stand up and wee instead of sitting down??? hes 3 in a few weeks and has been fully toilet trained for a year now but when he has to make a dash for the bush (when no toilets are around) iv noticed he has extremely bad aim!!! so im not sure if i really want to be cleaning wee off the walls and floor and toilet everytime he has to go! (right now he needs no help at all - he goes when he wants, gets on any toilet no trouble, wipes diddle or bum by himself, flushes and washes hands) it may feel like im totally going backwards!!
What is everyones opinions on this and how was everyones experiences with teaching their boys to pee standing up???...

Ive been trying to figure this out myself and everyone has told me to get him to watch dad but that didnt work. I have asked him if he wants to stand up but no he isnt interested so i figure maybe once he starts seeing older boys maybe at kindy or something then he will try to copy. Problem is he wont even try if we need to make the bushes dash, he just refuses to go and holds on.

Andrew has been doing it for a little while now. He started doing it when he was going to the preschool at his daycare and seeing the older boys doing it. He has spent a bit of watching his dad go as well. He doesn't like to stand all the time but will do it when he wants. He really just stands at the side of the toilet and flops it over the side of the bowl.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Harry does 'man wees' like Dad...never really thought about it though when we went through the toilet training, we gave him the option and most times he went for 'man wees'.

i got told bits of toilet paper to aim for is good too.

Jake stood up and weed a few days ago while we were on a walk, and it went all over his pants. He doesn't understand about "distance" as yet.

Yeah i know way more than i wanted to about mens toilet habits since having Kobe! I think we might have to rename his parts too cos at the moment he calls it a woodle (he couldnt say doodle properly and the name has kind of stuck, not that i like doodle anyway) but at the doctors the other day he was telling her he had a sore woodle and it just sounded so funny and I dont want him to get teased at preschool!
And how do they aim, I mean there isnt much there to hold on too, not sure kobe could see his over his belly these days!

hehehe Bay calls his a diddle or a doodleys! lol
My train of thought is 'if they cant even aim for a bush without getting it here there and everywhere then im not too sure how they would get on with a reasonably skinny toilet bowl!' lol

Im glad DP taught my son to stand to pee not long after he started tt - still occasionally sits, when he needs to do both. I just have to clean up the puddles on the floor.......yep he had bad aim, even with the smiley face ping pong ball in toilet.
