Topic: Lunchbox! Posted: 19 July 2010 at 7:52pm |
I'm getting bored making DD's lunch each day. I feel like I'm giving her the same things all the time and I really don't want her to be fussy like me!!!
What do you put in your kids lunch boxes for daycare?

Ours is mostly a mixture of the same stuff:
- sammies (but we have a few spread choices)
- fruit usually mandarins, grapes, apple, banana or whatever
- fruit jellys
- yoghurt
- cheese
- crackers
- rice wafer things (they come in a bag like chips)
- rasins
- carrot fans (lol carrots chopped into fan shapes cos my boy is obsessed with them)
- cereal like nutra grain in a little container
- cucumber slices in summer or if i happen to buy some in winter
- leftover quiche or sausage rolls

I'm having the same problem with lunches. We do cheese on toast with marmite (cold), a quartered plain pita bread, raisins, a squeezy Olny Organics fruit sachet (he's 18 mos, but loves them), bobby bananas, tomorrow I'm going to make some cheese muffins because he loves those too ... erm ... cheese sammies with Vogels bread (he loves it), I made a cheese and ham toasted pita that barely got touched the other day (mind you, he's been teething on the sly, so it might have been that) ... ahhh ... Yep. We're pretty boring here too!! I have to get loads of cheese into him though because he doesn't drink milk, and he's still not feeding himself well enough for me to send him with a yoghurt, because he needs help with that.
Sorry - not very helpful!

Stealing those ones! I'll also do marmite on a cruskit because he quite likes those, and if I've done baking that's not too bad, half a bicky (eg. chocolate chip cookie) ... Am still thinking

Savoury muffins, pita with hummus, pikelets, scones, veg soup, yogurt, fruit (mandarins, bananas and kiwifruit at the moment as in season) H also loves those fruit sachet things from only organics, I think it's the novelty of sucking it out!
Off sandwiches here which is a pain. He pretty much eats what I do, not a big fan of 'baby' food.

- Grapes
- Raisins
- Olives
- Raw Carrot
- Cucumber
- Sandwich (Jam,Chicken or Pastrami generally)
- Pasta
- Fruit Sticks (can't remember the name but they come either in apricot or strawberry)
- Rice Crackers / Corn Thins
- Muesli Bars

Dani - some new things Ryan's just discovered are surimi (the imitation crab stuff) and sliced black olives. Depending on if your daycare will let you take egg things you could send leftover fritatta as well. Marshmellows as a sweet treat now and then. Slightly boiled apple with a bit of butter and cinnamon and cardamon coated on it.

We rotate marmite sammies/toasties/spaghetti/jam sammies and add crackers, fruit cup, banana, raisins, muesli bar and a biscuit. Sometimes I add in a packet of chips for him if he's been a good boy. Thomas is pretty fussy so we just stick with the same staples. Thomas LOVES egg and peanut butter but they're not allowed it in the lunches.
