When is too soon to go out and buy them? TTC at the moment but also could be awhile due to implanon taken out last week.

Also what books are good for TTC#1 and for the partner who has no clue about anything to do with TTC and pregnancy etc

A lot of the pregnancy books have sections on TTC , and infertility etc, and there is a new "What to expect when Trying to concieve " book as well , actually has some interesting tips, (i browsed through it at Whitcoulls one day ) things like cm makes a square/rectangle stain on your underwear

The library is a good place to try before you buy. I think I've read every single preg book at my library lol

We've been TTC for over a year and I bought a baby book last week it's "YOU: Having a baby" it's by Dr Oz and Dr Rosin. It's really interesting. I hadn't thought of going to the library for books but thats such a good idea. My DH doesn't want to know about "all the ickky internal stuff" so I can't comment on a good book for your partner lol.

I can recommend the New Zealand Pregnancy Book I got it out from the library and it has a good section on TTC. Relevant to NZ situation too.

Trade me is a good place to get books. I got the NZ preg book for about $5! It doesn't matter if it's not brand new cause most of the info is the same :) Plus you don't have to pay $40 + for it

Thanks for the ideas guys and I too hadn't thought of the library lol. I've seen the pregnancy for dummies book but looking on ebay it's not that cheap. I've heard Up The Duff mentioned in a few different places so might check out that one :) and could always check out trademe and get my mother to post to me once we've told her LOL

Hi Sonnycraig,

I am just about to start TTC and I am a super geek when it comes to organisation so I researched for ages which books I should get and I bought the following: Up the Duff by Kaz Cooke - this book was hilarious but has good advice too. I also bought the NZ pregnancy book and the other one is the good old what to expect when you are expecting. These three seemed to cover all areas and also be relevant. If you have a birthday or anything comeing up you could always ask for whitcoulls vouchers. Luckily for me I have an incentive scheme at work and so I got vouchers from that which meant I didnt have to actually pay for any of them.

As menitoned you can find all of these books on trademe too. :)

Hope this helps and good luck

I bought the J&J's pregnancy book with my first pregnancy & read it avidly. Not too sure how much TTC stuff it had in it as my SIL has it now.

One book to read which is really funny is Jenny McCarthy's book. Purple Twinkies LMAO

But I'd use your library & then buy the one you like the most & think that you'll get the most use out of. The J&J one had a lot of stuff past pregnancy & birth so it was handy.

Just go with the library for now, you'll be given a heap of literature when you enrol with a maternity carer.

I brought Up the Duff not long after starting this but really should check out the library as it is more about actually being pregnant than TTC :P but I got mine for about $17 off ebay, bummer because pregnancy books came out on special 2 for $30 the next week lol
