I know there's a lot of griping about MILs, so I just thought I'd say (for the sake of any MILs reading this) that mine is great!

She is so supportive of what we are doing with DS, offers advice ion the nicest possible way and doesn't mind if it is rejected, always tells me what a good job I am doing (even when I think I'm not), and helps out whenever she can. She loves DS to bits and never compares him to our nieces and nephews. She loves getting him stuff but always asks first what we need, and she gets on with my parents too!

I would offer to lend her out, but I'm afraid I might not get her back

So thanks MIL!!

How about I send mine to her and she can retrain her!? She doesn't even have to send mine back if she doesn't think she'll make the cut!!

Aw KandK I was thinking the same thing the other day - I have a wonderful MIL who is so supportive, reassuring and just awesome! We get on so well and I love having her around. She even does my dishes when she comes for tea

Mine is totally lovely most of the time, but sometimes I could kill her.

Luckily DH feels exactly the same way as me so it doesn't tend to cause any conflicts :)

Aww yay for lovely MILs, mine is great too - she always buys DS super cute PP clothes at the end of the NZ season and sends a big parcel a couple of times a year (we are in the UK) with the clothes and Animal Biscuits for him and Toffee Pops / Peanut Slabs for us

Awww, that is great that so many have lovely MIL's.

Mel - I love your thought, maybe I could send mine too. There could be a training camp for MIL's

Mine is fine too. She actually agrees with me that FIL is an arse and she can so see why I don't want to have anything to do with him anymore.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I don't have a MIL becasue she is dead, but I wish I did, especially now my own mother lives so far away.
I can see why my own mother is a PITA. however seeing hte disgusting way my sisters in laws have treated her over the years for nothing really, makes me feel sad. Its always their families first and mum and dad missed out on everything, christmases, birthdays, new babies etc. i know you often just want YOUR mum, but it really hurt me to see how much that bnehaviour hurt my mum. I hope I am a great MIL but I know it will have to be a pretty darn special woman to look after my wee man the way I do! lol
