Hi everyone
Im seriously considering buying one for my son, cot death is a very scary thing for me and when he goes in a cot id have peice of mind knowing that maybe this might help if he was to stop breathing, but im curious as to how many times they sound off unnecessary, if any of yous have one would u mind telling me how you find them and also how many times they false go off ?

I presume they still come with the two pads? That way you can use them in the bassinet as well
I've never had a false alarm with mine unless i forget to turn it off before I picked them up.
The ones with the 2 pads are better cause they give a wider spread of picking up the breathing.

I've also got one with two pads and have never had a false alarm. I find them great and such wonderful peace of mind. I've also used mine with both boys.
I know that it works, as some nights my DS2 just needs a cuddle from his mummy. Often after I pick him up, a few seconds later the monitor will beep letting me know that its not picking up any movement.
Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with this monitor.

ive got the 402 version, it has 1 pad and so far no false alarms.
i love it, its great am so glad we got it

Just be aware that if you have a fan in the room pointed towards the cot, the monitor detects the air flow as movement so the monitor won't go off. This is stated in the manual but lots of people miss it. Easy enough to test out though, we still use a rotating fan in summer in the nursery but have it pointing away from the cot.
I love our Angelcare, it's been fantastic.

Yeah im thinking it would really put my mind at ease to get one, they cost alot of money but if it would help to save our little boys life in the event of cot death then it's worth it

One of the best items we bought IMO - just having the piece of mind that it would sound if he stopped breathing helped me to sleep in the early days. We haven't had the sound on for some time as he makes alot of noises in the night and our monitor makes a constant soft hum which can be distracting when you are trying to sleep - our bedroom is right next door so I hear him anyway.
Not necessary for everyone but worth every penny for us

We've never had a false alarm from ours, we also love being able to know the temperature when we're not in the room.

We got given one by my sister who had the older model with her two kids. We couldn't afford to get this model so she bought it for us I couldn't live without it. We have had no false alarms but it has gone off once. Jumped out of bed in a hell of a hurry and ran into her room to find she wasn't breathing. Would hate to know what could have happened if we didn't have the monitor! Definitely worth getting one!

With Ethan we had two alarms go off but both cause of sensor moved..with Liam it went off a lot in the beginning.. freaked me out.. he was fine but i think he may have held his breath?we changed monitors and borrowed a friend so ours may have got damaged in the move but her one has gone off a few times too..warning beeps...having said that it is the single best thing we ever bought and allows me to sleep...well worth the money..

We had a couple of times it went off quite close together, adjusted the sensor to be slightly more senstive nd then it was fine.
I too am worried about cot death as had a brother who died of cot death and a niece.
I would never had slept without the monitor and highly recommend them to anyone who is worried about that sort of thing. Best thing I bought.

I wouldnt be without ours, have only recently taken it out of the 2 year olds cot for the new baby. Have had a few false alarms in setting up the sensitivity right, and once she got older she would wiggle off it, but you could hear her up and about before the alarm sounded

We have got the old one and it has gone off the odd time as she has moved away from the sensor. I am selling it as it doesn't get used anymore.

I never had the sound on ours as we have a small house, the light would flick in time with breathing (i think) and seeing that in the middle of the night reassured me

Yes we have one and wouldn't be without it. I still have it on now and DS is nearly 14mths. It did go off a few times when he was brand new but that was because he was breathing shallow and we didn't have the sensitivity set right.
If you can't afford to buy new Bubie buy one off Trademe they sell for about $150. You don't need the latest model, the cheaper ones still have the sensor pads. Sorry if this sounds patronising but just wondering from the way you have worded your first post, you do realise cot death is still a risk when they sleep in a bassinet don't you?

Mrs_B, Yeah i do realise that cot death can happen in the bassinette, but for some reason im more worried about the cot, i think mainly because he will be in his own room and not next to our bed

We've had ours for nine years now, wouldn't be without it, only one sensor pad but only had it go off unnecessarily when we've forgotten to turn it off when we've got them up. It went off once when dd6y was a baby, rushed in and watched her for about 30secs, definitely wasn't breathing, so I grabbed her & as I lifted her she took a big gasp. Had nightmares for weeks about what would have happened if we didn't have the monitor, =(.
