I've never even heard of Kiwi Valley, but Cyrstal mountain is ok if you like that kinda thing. Heaps of stones and what not to look at and they have a nice cafe and mini farm for the kids.

I prefer Kiwi Valley personally.
Crystal mountain is a dive IMO and the whole place just looked tired and filthy. I actually thought it was closed when we got there. For $15 you get a train ride (it's not a proper train though) and then you can walk around and feed the animals. We went for the first time last Thursday and probably won't go back. The people that work there were slow and lazy and kept us standing around for a quarter of an hour. We didn't even see a pony let alone get to feed one and to ride one would cost extra. They didn't charge us for the boys though as they were still free of charge. They have a mini rollercoaster but our boys aren't big enough and again this is extra. You can get a $35 pass and go on everything but I personally don't see how you would get $35 worth. We were also refused coffee at 2:50 when the cafe closes at 3, we weren't even after food!
Kiwi Valley is $13 and $9 (I think) for children. They can interact and hold some of the animals, go on the ponies as much as they want and they have tractor rides which are a big hit with my little motorhead.

We used to like Crystal Mountain but the put their prices up heaps and you can't just see the animals anymore, which was all DD wanted to do. Kiwi Valley is awesome

Crystal Mountain is a dump....no point at all going there unless you like looking at crappy run down fences, animals that dont look very healthy....the barn where they have the "small animals" is an accident waiting to happen and NOT AT ALL child friendly....(wire, nails, chemicals etc all just sitting around).....
