TBH I'd probably put up with it because I'm a doormat with things like that, but what I would LIKE to do would be to tell them their stuff will be on the side of the road at 4pm tomorrow and they're welcome to come pick it up. If it's not gone by 6 you'll assume they don't want it and list the good stuff on trade me. Lol.

They are the ones damaging the friendship by taking advantage of you.
If it were me (esp in my current state) I'd be completely blunt and tell them to come and pick it up by the end of the weekend or it is going out on the street.
Maybe you could put the car cover over it to help keep it dry?

I would be blunt too. If they valued your friendship they wouldn't be taking advantage of you.

I agree, I would be blunt and tell them it will be left outside if they haven't come to collect it by XX time.

They are definitely taking advantage, that's so unfair.

Tell them you were burgled and that all the stuff in the shed got stolen...

Then wait a day before telling them to come and get it. You're being used.

Tell them straight up, you need the space, it can't stay there any longer, if they don't take it away by Sunday it will be out on the curb for whoever wants it.

I wouldn't say that I'm going to put in on the road but I would tell them I need the shed and I'm not going to be taken advantage of so if your stuff isn't moved tomorrow I will have to put it next to the shed. My house, my shed, I want to use it.

What sort of stuff? haha

I would put it next to shed and put a tarp or car cover over it.

Yeah, lay the smack down lol. They are taking advantage of you, when their stuff could be in storage. It's your space, so either turf it out or start charging rent! (Easy to say, but I would be the first one asking DH to 'lay the smack down')
Give them a few days notice and then by all means have a garage sale.

Go bash them with some phone books and tell them that they are now taking the piss.. .and if it's not gone by the weekend you will be delivering back to them and leaving it on the footpath

I kind of feel sorry for them. I know what it's like to not have any money to come up with bond/storage. Not your problem and is annoying but maybe talk to them about why it's happening and how you can resolve it.

Invite them around for something they won't be able to resist.... like a party or BBQ or something.  When they arrive you've got 'em captive - force them to sort their sh!t out before leaving.

a couple of simple sentences...

"you told us a week. its been *x* weeks. if its not out by *x* days/weeks/date it will be on the front lawn. its our shed. we were nice to start with but now its beyond inconvinient. get rid of it or we get rid of it for you" and if you pop a garage sale sign on it you wouldnt have to live on noodles

I would just say "We thought this was a temporary solution/ We need to have the car in the garage, so we will have to put the items outside in the rain I'm afraid"
