Topic: Achy Legs! Posted: 17 June 2010 at 5:00pm |
The last few days Ive had this achy/weak feeling in my legs from the knees down, its driving me mental! The feel like I want to stetch them all the time, and when i stand they feel kinda weak.
Ive also got a sore lower back on the right side and the pain, when i lean forwards, goes down my bum, but it feels different to Sciatica, but Im guessing its a nerve thing. Im wondering if thats effecting my legs?
Anyone else had anything like this before, or am I just weird!?
Its kind of like restless legs without the itching and twitching!
They seems to feel better when i go for a nice long walk!

Have you done anything to strain anything? You might have a little pinched nerve in your lower back or something.

Try taking magnesium it can really help with aching legs and most muscular soreness.

I get this but it's always in bed and so annoying!
I also have a pinched nerve in my back from moving furniture around in my late pregnancy - ouch! It plays up occasionally when I have to get dd up off the ground!
I think my leg thing though is from not doing much exercise and then suddenly going out one day and then the next week my legs feel like crap. But that's just me!

Im wondering if its to due with AF actually, as it really started getting annoying yesterday!
I got DH to massage my legs before and that made them feel much better.
I'll see how they are once AF is finished, if they are still bothering me I will see the Dr and ask about it and about getting some physio for my back.
Heidismum I might give those pills a go too, thanks :)

Oh my goodness, I am sitting here winging of the same problem, I just can not get comfortable! My leg just aches from the knee down, throbbing achey.... its not really the muscle or the skin or anything.
I usually get really achey joints when I get tired so I have just been putting it down to that. I think I am going to try take a panadol and an early because I don't know if I can handle this anymore.
I think I might have to try the magnesium too.
Hope your leg and back are feeling better soon - you have my sympathy!

Is it like growing pains? I still get these all the time and I hate it, always in my legs from the knee down.
I'm going to mention to my GP next time I see her, but it's kind of embarrassing.. I'm definitely not growing anymore!

Yeah thats what Im getting to Daizy, except mine doesnt hurt, its just uncomfy and weird...
And yep MrsEmma it is kinda like growing pains
Its actually really good tonight, can hardly notice it,
but my back is sore and its definitly nerve pain, when i bend the pain goes down my butt, so maybe the leg thing was to do with my back flaring up again

I get that feeling but mostly I think it is when I am cold and haven't really realised, and also probably tired at the same time...so like late at night when out of bed.
I noticed I got this in my arms when DS was just little and took ages to feed and I felt so cold when I didn't have a long sleeve top on in the middle of the night...the only thing that made it feel better was to shake it!

TaliP, yeah mine seem worse if Im cold too!
Becks, yep like restless legs! During the day they are not that bad, my right knee/leg feels weaker than the left and its the right side side of my lower back that hurts, was quite sore today, like nerve pain sore.
At night time they ache and its soooooo annyoing, Im always stretching them. I dont have any tingling or numbness, just achy/weak, so dumb! lol

I used to get that when I was a smoker, but it went when I quit. I now get it during pregnancy in the late months - so maybe its just a circulation thing - which is why it would feel so much better after excercise - It sounds a bit like a nervey thing to me - maybe some decent massage oil and a willing hubby will help!

I had a similar thing when I was pregnant too - turns out it was caused by lack of iron - mine weren't itchy either just achy - and only at night in bed. Once I started taking iron tablets it went away.

I like that idea rasberryjam My feet feel kinda cold tonight too, so possiblt is a circulation thing. Very odd, it only started like this the other day, sort of when AF started.
I have always suffered low iron, and I had a feeling the other week it was low again, so started on some floradix, I need to buy more, so will see if it improves if I start taking that again, will also go for a walk with the kids everyday to get the circulation going.
Thanks for all the replys girls :) makes me feel much better! I have my feet on the heatpack at the moment and its making my legs feel much better too.(hubby is out!)

low iron and circulation are linked - iron helps to carry oxygen around in the blood - so maybe get your iron levels checked - too much iron isnt great either - but a massage in the meantime is definately required hope your better soon

Thanks I know my iron is on the low side just from a few things, like dry skin and feeling a bit tired etc so will get back onto the floradix, I like that stuff its gentle and it has other vitamins in it too :)

Sheza... you could also try low dose aspirin ... or one quarter of a Disprin (lol I know I recommend it for ttc too )..... but it helps thin the blood slightly and helps with circulation.
