My DS has a constant runny nose and a rattly cough (not wheezing, he just sounds really phlemmy). I have seen 2 different GPs about it, and they dont seem too concerned. But he has been like this for almost a year now, always sounding sick with a snotty face. His runny nose is clear most of the time, but he seems to pick up every bug possible, and has been having every second week off daycare. I have got him on vitamins to try and boost his immune system, but they dont seem to be working. He is also asthmatic, but not really badly. He has a preventor twice a day.
Should I be getting his sinuses and adenoids checked? His cough sounds horrible, despite the fact that it doesnt seem to bother him.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated!!!

Sounds like our house cept Thomas doesnt have asthma. No GP's seem to be concerned about it even tho he's got a really good welders cough and a runny nose! Luckly because we've been given the all clear from the GP, he's allowed to go to preschool.
I've been wondering about some sort of immune boosting thing for him and will be watching this thread. How does your boy take vitamins? does he have the chewable ones or something?

Take him to a nathuropath, much easier & cheaper in the long run than throwing different vitamins at him.

I have been thinking that I will take him to the natropath and have allergy tests done. I have been wondering if it is something to do with a slight dairy intollerance maybe.
MissAngel, we give him chewable tablets, he is really good at taking them.

DS has a 'smokers' cough, has had for about 2 mths. He coughs a phlemy cough in the early am, then seems fine the rest of the time. GP doesn't rate it. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread too.

Avoid dairy products as much as possible. They make the phlem worse

We are about to start trying colloidal silver, on the advice of the health shop, in a bid to boost immunity. Who knows whether it'll work!?

Naturopath! And liquid olive leaf and probiotics will work wonders.
