Hope this isn't TMI but I took my temp last night and it had dropped from the usual 36.8 to 36.4. So I was nervous AF was on her way.

Woke this morning to a temp of 36.4 (most have been 36.5-36.8) and waited 5 mins before hopping out of bed, straight to the loo where I took the temp again and this time it was 36.6.

I know you should take your temp while you are still in bed and before you get up, so realistically I should dis-regard the 36.6........but if the temp of 36.6 was within 1 minute of getting up, can it still be counted?

Can your temp rise 0.2 in the matter of 1 minute and 8 steps to the loo???

Please put me on the straight and narrow!!!

um i think that you have to disregard the one that was taken after getting up because its amazing how fast your temp goes up after movement!
I use to do that and before i got up it was around 36.3 then when id get up it would shoot up to 36.7!!
Also you are meant to wait 5 minutes while you are in bed before you take it incase you slept with your mouth open which would give you a much lower reading

Thanks Baysmum, will remember that tip (did wake with a wee sore throat so perhaps I was breathing through my mouth!!! - visions of snoring now enter my head - ha ha ha).

I know I should disregard the temp after hopping up, just clutching at straws here in the hope that AF isn't coming - don't mind my temporary madness!!!!

Disregard the 36.6 i know how much we want our temps to be nice and high. I find if u mostly sleep with your mouth open your temps are ok but if not u may need to look at temping elsewhere

hahaha

Thing is that if u temp vaginally u dont have to shove the thermometer right in lol its just the tip haha

I always take my temp as soon as i wake coz i find sometimes there are drastic changes in temperatures even within 5 mins coz ur body is awake and warming up. U ideally want to have ur resting temp But everyones different all that matters is that you get the clear shift for ovulation.

Salifer, I'm really sorry, but it makes a *huge* difference taking your temp when you're up and around, and throughout the day - you really need to chart that 'first thing' temp and use that to judge how your cycle is going. My temps fluctuate quite a bit during the day and anything past my waking temp doesn't mean a thing. My temp this morning was 36.3 which is low for me for CD6 but around where it should be, and I just took my temp now, so I could make a comparison for you - and it was 36.8, which is about where my temps sit after ovulation. Do you see what I mean?

I really, really don't want to upset you, but generally if your temp takes a dive around when AF would be due, AF will turn up in the next day or so.

I know so well what you're going through, and it's completely horrible. I really hope that you get a BFP, but all I'm trying to say is please be careful not to make things harder on yourself.

I'll be thinking of you and hoping for the best!

Oh dear ...I sound an absolute witch in that post. Please know that I am concerned and worried for you, and that's where I'm coming from.
