Also be aware that peanut butter increases the wax in the ear so if your bub is prone to ear problems ie glue ear it will not be good for them.

I reckon 10mo should be fine as long as there's no history of peanut issues.

It's so true though that now we're being told to avoid pretty much everything allergies are on the rise. Seems to me like they need to do more research before telling people how to raise their babies.

We tested Amelia (#2) with it by putting a bit on her tummy. No reaction. With Alexandria (#1) whenever we put a bit on her tummy she ends up with a red mark.

That might give you a way to "test" her before actually giving it to her.

Current guidelines state it is a stage 3 food so from 8 months onward, however, if there is a family history to wait until 12 months....

Jake had it from about 10 months I think and OMG he is a peanut butter kid.. if he sees the jar come out of the pantry he goes nuts!!!!

Yes, the guidelines have changed and a lot of things are now given much earlier much to my surprise! Peanut butter is fine at 8mths old, however if there's a history of intolerances... you might want to hold off until 1yo which is what they suggest when there's a history of allergies.

There is some new allergy research coming out of the UK that all potential food allergins like peanuts should be given to a baby before six months to reduce the chance of allergies.

Things are changing all the time so go with whatever feels right to you. Our DS is great with peanut butter. I would try it the first few times in the morning or at lunch so you can observe as to whether there is a reaction. Also, once you start on peanuts, its recommended you keep giving it to your child at least a few times a month and never leave a big gap such as six months without it to avoid them developing any issues with it.

I gave peanut butter by 8months I think, but because I don't like it I tend to stick to marmite because she normally steals off me. I don't think she is the biggest fan of it either
