Ok, so I want to make some bibs with dome closures - but what do I need to attach the domes to the material? Is there some sort of contraption I need to buy, and if so where do I get it from and how much will it cost? Thanks!

Du have plastic domes? If so you need a snap press like off Greenbeans. If you're using metal snaps I think you can attach them with a hammer or your local material/sewing shop should be able to do it for a small fee.

Greenbeans also has a Snap Services page where you can find someone in your area who has a press and contact them to use it.

You can get wee DIY kits at Spotlight as well, if you're just wanting to do a layer or two. I haven't tried them so can't guarantee how well they work!

Plastic good for things that are gonna get wet a lot as don't rust (obviously). If not doing a lot of snaps then wouldn't bother with plastic, just use the metal ones with the hammer kit thing...waaaay cheaper :-)

Ive got some metal ones that i use for bibs and you can get the option of a pack with the little thing in it that you hit with a hammer. Works really well. I got them from spotlight and they should be in most sewing type shops.

you can also get pliers to do plastic snaps as well. Standard size for bibs, nappies etc is a size 20, so you will need to get a size 20 die and that's for a snap press as well as the pliers etc.

(I have the pliers and I find they are very easy :) )

Oh yeah the pliers, they would be good...don't have any but have eyelet ones and they are great!

I have been using plastic snaps on bodysuits coz I got the deal with greenbeans to get every single colour under the sun...but I don't think it looks as good with plastic ones as it does with the metal ones...I think because the plastic ones seem so BIG and FAT...think the metal ones seem a lot more slimline.....just something else to think about lol! I will keep on using my plastic ones on stuff coz I have to use them all up hahahahahahaha...sigh seemed like a good idea at the time....
