Topic: Cycles that make no sense... Posted: 01 June 2010 at 9:58am |
Hi there - am very new to all this, but have seen some wonderful information on this site.
My partner and I have been seeing a lot of specialists lately - my periods have been getting more and more irregular - this cycle 30 days, last cycle 74 days... you get the idea
At first they told us it was PCOS, this time they have retracted that. Now, they just don't know. But they believe it is some kind of unexplained ovary failure (I'm 29). They have also told us if we want to have children - try now. It may already be too late, but don't wait to find out.
So we are now having those scary but exciting conversations about whether we want to do this now. The more we talk the more it makes me realise how important children are to me. There really is no question about it - try, try, try!!!
Anyway, after that long intro - does anyone have any hints how we might help get cycles back on track naturally? We are booked to see a fertility specialist in a few months time, but I would love to be able to help myself without drugs.Any ideas lovingly received!

Hi BabyBubble, welcome to Ohbaby.
A lot of people with irregular and long cycles recommend Vitex. You can get it from any health shop.

Sounds like you have quite a bit going on with your body I would probably look into going to a naturopath rather than just grabing something off the shelf, as different herbs do different things depending on what is out of balance.

I was also going to suggest a naturopath.

Thank you for the kind words - is all just so worrying at the moment. Never thought I would be facing this at 29!
I have started using MaybeBaby to try and see if I am actually ovulating at all - so will give it a few months (have only had it a few days). Fingers crossed!
I had been going to a naturopath for about a year as things were going down hill but I actually found it made things worse - maybe that means I need to find a different one!
Will just keep positive until the Fertility specialist gives us their verdict...

You might want to get some ovulation predictors too, coz some people think maybe baby is great but for others not so good...so if you used both to start with you could work out if maybe baby is for you..also really recommend charting and taking temp to work out when ovulating!
