Topic: AF after baby ? Posted: 25 May 2010 at 2:16pm |
Hey guys
Just a quick question, how long did it take you to get AF back regularly after baby was born. I stopped BFing at 3 weeks got my AF about a month or so after that, End of March but I haven't got it back since then? Before getting PG I was having cycles between 28-33 days long.

I got mine back at 6 weeks and have been having it regularly every 26-30 days since. It might just be taking awhile to become regular. Or you could test hehe. maybe ask your gp?

7 weeks after Sam and I stopped BF at 3 weeks too.
14 weeks after Jamie and I was fully exclusively BF!
I've had two since having Jamie, the first one was pretty bad, but the next one was alright. Still waiting for the third.

hmmm i would probably go get checked by GP since you aren't breastfeeding I would have thought your hormones would be fairly 'normal' now.
After both my kids I have the after birth blood for about 3 weeks and then bag on the 6weeks mark get my first period and then regular 32day cycles from then on and I exclusively breastfeed. Feel a little ripped off that some people get to have none for ages. But then thinking about it I kinda of like getting back into normal body functions iykwim makes me feel normal and definately stops me thinking im pregnant.
Oooo is that a possiblity? have you tested?

Ugh, might make an appointment for Lexie and mention it to him at her appt lol! And if it weren't for the fact I haven't had any morning sickness I might've thought I was pregnant. But highly doubt I would be pregnant without MS!
I did have what I thought might've been ovulation pain a few weeks ago so might just leave it another couple and see how we go.

I never had a spot of morning sickness so you never know. Might be different for you next time round (for your sake i hope so - you deserve a easy pregnancy next time)

I'd say it's your body adjusting to having a baby as that is what it does - it can screw your whole body up for a few months.

I think it's your body adjusting as well, no harm in a quick preggie test though
I haven't got mine back yet i'm BF DS2 a lot at night.
With DS1 when i stopped BF at night ( was still BF during day) got it back he was 9 months old. Was totally unprepared it was christmas morning we were staying at the inlaws on their farm in the middle of nowhere and i had no supplies! AF sure knows when to come! Thank goodness for gas stations!!

It can take a while to settle back to normal. I BF till 15months, but got a pseudo-AF (really just spotting for a couple of days) at about 12months, then nothing till AF came back properly at 15months. After then, cycles were very irregular (up to 40 days), so could just be your body adjusting!

Lol, would be pretty amusing Bex.
I got mine back when Liam was maybe 3.3 months but has been a bit random, I had a feeling I was gonna as had ovulation symptoms but then since then have not noticed ovulation but had one weirdo AF.
I am exclusively breatfeeding tho so things are probably weirdo...feel totally ripped off as I was planning to use as birth control...ah well.
