It doesn't hurt, as part of your pre-natal check up, to get a day 22/day 23 blood test, which will tell you if you are ovulating. Most doctors will do this as a matter of course anyway.
Just for general health, I also try and load my diet with B vitamins as they're good for your women's bits (I can't take any kind of B vitamin tablet, and have had a severe B vitamin deficiency in the past). When you get your blood test too, make sure that you get your B vitamins checked, because if you start loading yourself with folic acid, if you have a B vitamin deficiency of any kind, it can be dangerous. Just on the off chance, it doesn't hurt to make sure.
I have been very bad and haven't been taking folic acid, although I have some in the cupboard. I think I'd better start when my next period starts... What is preseed guys? What is it intended to do?
Also, Salifer - I dare you to make it even one month only BDing every second day when you know you're nearing ovulation - bet you can't do it! It's like trying to fall upwards, I swear!

Preseed is lubricant that helps to aid the spermies to their destination if your own mucous isnt doing the job

What do you mean Ginger....can you expand on that a little?
My DH and I did the BD every second day this month (just 3 attempts all up) as last month we were every day (for 5 days) and it didn't seem to pay off. So decided to just try every second day as suggested by the sperm meets egg plan website.

Oh ...you're a stronger person than me if you managed that!
I always have good intentions to do it every second day, sometimes I manage it and other times I'm just so desperate (to conceive! )I have to get as many swimmers in there as I possibly can - even knowing that it's not the best thing to do!!

Actually there's a book on fertility written by the specialists at Fertility Associates, that says the '2nd day' thing is basically a myth, and the more you do it, the better

PS
Depending how desperate you get / how much $ you're prepared to spend, you could consider herbal remedies and acupuncture. Both have some evidence /support in the academic literature. If you're in Akld, Nicky Bailie is a GP who also specialises in herbal treatment of fertility issues, so can arrange the usually lab tests - best of both worlds. It's quite expensive though - I think about $150 for the first consultation with you and your partner, which takes about an hour and a half, plus about $20/wk for vitamins and herbs. She also explains about charting etc.
I know a couple of people who successfully treated infertility with acupuncture by Jenny Alison, but no luck for us yet - but I've only been having acupuncture about once a month for 3 months, and we have several issues to deal with (and DH won't go).
and don't forget DH - it takes two! He should avoid tight pants, hot baths etc (keep things cool down there), minimise coffee-drinking and generally eat well, stay healthy, blah, blah.
and I've just read that you should have plenty of good fats, e.g. salmon oil, avacado... but that trans fats (which I think is processed stuff like margarine) can really decrease female fertility. This was published in a medical journal following extensive research.
