 Topic: How big is your childs head.

Hi i am going to be making crochet baby hats but need to know what size to do them.
If you wouldn't mind could you tell me your childs age and their head size.
From premmie up to 5 yrs please.

Esme's head was 35 cm born and was about 40cm when she was 12 weeks. No idea how big it is now but she's sleeping so I won't go and measure it.
I just knitted a hat and the pattern for 6-12 months was for a head approximately 48 cm.
Hope that helps  I'd love to learn to crochet, is it easier than knitting?

Lily's was 34cm when born and at 9 weeks was 38cm, she's 13 weeks now and getting it measured in a couple of hours.

I only did knitting a couple of times when i was younger. My MIL taught me to crochet on saturday and i made a hat yesterday. it measures 31cm so i guess that is premmie size then. I think crochet is pretty easy but i couldn't work it out from the instructions on the net, i needed MIL to actually show me what to do but once she did it was easy. Maybe you tube could be a help tho.

Yes 31cm would be prem. Average is around 35cm for newborn I think. My boy was 38cm when he was born but he had a BIG head! You could go with the 50% measurements in the plunket book?
His HC=48.5cm now at 12mths old.

At birth Coopers head was 37cm at 12 weeks it was 42cm and last time I measured it (about 4months) it was 45cm. My boy has a big head and I often have trouble getting tops over it and hats to fit nicely.

Oh yay for crocheted hats! My DD has one and it's my favourite 
And yup 31cm would be prem (my grandma knits wee prem hats for the hospital). Chelsea's head was 33cm at birth, not sure what it is now. Will measure it when she wakes up if I remember

here is the prem hat i made.
I borrowed DD's doll head to model it. It keeps falling off her doll and is so hard to put back on, falls off easy tho

Jody's head is 45cm @18 months
Birth was 35cm, she was 9lb4oz.

My current baby was born with a 37cm head & now at 3 weeks old it is 40cm (measured today by my midwife )
